This movie gets an average 2 star rating from various sources. I am assuming a lot of the low scores come from critics who want a more original / less-sappy film?
I agree the script is a bit sappy and predictable, but the visuals (cinematography), the music, and the acting is FANTASTIC. If you love paintings (or art in general), I'm sure you'll love this film... the imagery is breathtaking! The story is touching... emotional... I've seen many many films, but very few tug at my heart and make cry... this film had me sobbing tears of happiness and regret. It hurt so good!!d This film, What Dreams May Come, ranks among the few films which I consider great/classic (like Avatar / Star Wars / Titanic). I've seen this film about 3 times now (so I am not an obsessive-compulsive fanatic), but every time I see it, it makes me laugh and cry and awe... Which is exactly what a good Hollywood film should do!
P.S. I really need to buy the Blu-Ray for my personal collection.
(P.P.S. Thanks to the TMDB moderators who directed me to re-post in the "correct" forum... I deleted the original post per their request, so I can't thank them by name, but I love you all the same :)

You've got a fellow fan here! This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Watching it takes you on an roller-coaster through a spectrum of colors, shapes and emotions. It gets me every time I watch it even though I know the story won't change and play out differently. The movie is even more precious to me now after the passing of Robin Williams.
