Discuss After the Thin Man

Is it just me who always finds it very concerning how much long-distance flinging of horns across the nightclub takes place during the performance of "Blow That Horn"? I mean, this is in a club full of drunken patrons on New Year's Eve. In real life (if all that weren't staged in a rehearsed setting for the movie), many patrons wouldn't actually be paying attention, others would be whatever extent of wasted and off kilter, and some of those several horns flying to and fro would for sure be inevitable cause of painful, perhaps serious, face/head and body injuries!

That said, it's a very fun scene. I just wouldn't want to in real life be present anywhere something similar was occurring!

Happy New Year's Eve, everyone! fireworks tada

I absolutely loved the whole Thin Man series (well really I loved anything William Powell was in. I wish I could afford to buy all of his movies on DVD).

Here's the scene (you did notice that the dancer was the actress (Penny Singleton), who played Blondie in the movies?):

She was a good dancer! At the time, who we today know as Penny Singleton didn't yet have that name, so was still billed, instead, by her original name, Dorothy McNulty.

I entirely forgot - until the other hour - that this movie has a significant extended New Year's Eve party portion. So glad I remembered, as I've officially decided AtTM will be what I watch (first) tonight. (I'm then thinking about double-billing it with 1921's The Phantom Carriage, which is set on New Year's Eve, therefore also relevant to today's date.)

After the Thin Man is my fave of the Thin Man series of films, and is the only one I have the DVD of. Terrific cast - and there's the really good unexpected twist at the end!

I enjoy all the movie series from the 30s-40s be it the Thin Man, Blondie, Ma and Pa Kettle, East Side Kids, Sherlock Holmes, etc etc.

Same here. The '20s, '30s, and '40s definitely are my fave movies (and otherwise) decades.

Btw, I just a few minutes ago finished watching this movie - which I was so tired that I slept straight through half or more of. That certainly didn't go as planned. sleeping

You have to stay awake at least until midnight! 7 minutes!

I'd better fix a cup of coffee!

I just brewed some fresh coffee for you. Have a cup☕
