I liked Frozen as much as the next person, but The Wind Rises was the best animated film that year.

I'm not a big fan of Disney-type movies (cartoons) but I love anime & this film is one of my favorites of Miyazaki.

I didn't particularly enjoy this one, although I'm not sure to what extent my opinion was coloured with the subject matter of celebrating Japanese WWII airplanes. 5/10 from me.
Frozen is, however, unwatchable to me. So uh, maybe this was the best from a bad year.
