Discuss Star Trek: The Motion Picture

It was not listed or mentioned in the movie anywhere. Book version listing it is not canon and does not count.

Is there any fan fiction that says that ship's doctor Mark Piper ( of WNMHGB) is any relation to the strapping Miss. Piper ( of The Menagerie)?

You missed the point 100%! It was only in a book version that he was his son. Not the movie at all! Book not cannon!

Stephen Collins had no right to consider distinguished character actor William Windom his screen daddy. There may be fan fiction that said the Pipers of ST were related but Paul Fixx and Julie Parrish had zero right to having considered themselves to having played kindred!

Given that the novel was written by the Roddenberry himself, it is about as close to canon as you can get without actually appearing on screen.

The movie does not tell us one way or another if the Deckers were related. We can, therefore, defer to secondary sources if we want this information.

I think Miss Piper and Lieutenant Palomas are sisters. Yeah I know. Parrish the thought.

There is nothing canon to contradict my hypothesis.

Fan fiction had Number One Nurse Chapel's sister!Invalid!

This is about a different fan fiction but it kinda fits because it is about an actor wrongly believed to have guest-starred on ST:TOS! Many believe Tim Burns (Johnny the Boy in the first 'Mad Max' film) guest starred on ST:TOS. He did not--a very different Tim Burns did(I wrote about this previously but I cannot locate my old posting on it). Anyway, the fan fiction for MM had Johnny actually having the true name of John Boyle or Jonathan Boyle. This was never in the script to 'Mad Max' by George Miller. It is just somethings fans of MM came up with!

PS Even AMC thought the MM Tim Burns had done ST:TOS as they mentioned it when they put in narrative footnotes to MM when they ran the film around 17 years ago.

You previously posted about Tim Burns here.

Thanks, Wonder!

There was plenty of other crazy misinformation about the Mad Max characters from fans (Bubba Zannetti and the Toecutter were former cops!!!) that they (fans) got only from their backsides.

PS Bubba was great with a gun and had a military style dress and had a no-nonsense, very tough attitude but this was way more indicative of him having been a parentally neglected former army draftee . Not a guy who joined police on his own and again he dressed military not like the 'Bronze'.
