I happened to hear about this film recently and wanted to check it out. The vibe all to often was "made-for-TV." It's a shame too because the narrative arc was very compelling. The interspersing of original footage was the saving grace of this film, but also added to the creative whip-lash of historical fact and modern cheesy drama. The original footage did serve well to cement in my mind that these were real events with real people, the most compelling instrument used in this film.
BTW, I say all this as someone who really wanted it to be awesome, but it just missed the mark.
