The Sawyer that was caught & executed in the narration

In the opening narration, it said that a W.E. Sawyer was caught, tried, and executed for the events in the first TCM film? Does anyone know who that was? I always thought it was Drayton/Cook because Hitchhiker was run down and it seemed obvious Leatherface escaped? Was Drayton suppose to be one who died in the gas chamber in 1981?
Other theories I have. It seems far fetched (but find me one horror film that isn't to some degree) that Hitch survived and was arrested If by some super miracle he was heathly enough to stand trial
My third theory was there was 3 Leatherfaces ( which explains how he came back after being killed off in 2. Maybe Leatherface was 3 triplet brothers or just related somehow-Original, "Bubba", and "Junior"
Does anyone have any ideas on who the Sawyer that died in the gas chamber in the opening narration-Drayton, Hitchhiker, "A" Leatherface, or some unknown family member that never appeared on screen?

Too Funny, I just did TCM 1, 2 & 3 over two days and watched 3 a few minutes ago...I COMPLETELY forgot about the Sawyer that went to the gas chamber...its kind of annoying this is never circled back to or clarified...then again, the entire TCM film series is all kinds of a hot mess! I mean, didn't TCM2 take place in 1986!? When did them getting caught in '81?!
Best not to think too much about it. I'm watching the Dead Meat YT video for part 1 and he said its best to NOT try to connect the dots or make sense of things. lol.
