Was Susan killed and trapped inside the house or did a demon take her image. The message that she leaves for her parents see genuine and her presence is felt. But the soul leads them to the well and the demon pops up.
Wouldn't the demon feel otherwordly and cold why playing a cruel game with them?

She drowned in the lake near the house. I guess it is a toss-up about her being trapped in the house though it would seem so since her mom saw her walking up to her room. The demon in the well is what is supposed to be controlling Susan.

I wish they touched on it more. It was a great film
