Discuss Wonder Woman

Although the review embargo is still in place, what little that has gotten out has been positive. Meanwhile box office predictions have it opening at $65-75 million, well below MoS, BvS or SS.

they're mostly men... they will apear to be sexists... especially in the current hypersensitive time in media when it comes to gender in movies...

I don't think critics care what gender the lead star is, if they do/don't like it, it's just that, not because of some PC crap.

They don't care if it's a female lead or not...they'd rip it to shreds if they didn't like it. Remember the movie Catwoman?

Exactly. Critics have a reputation to maintain, faking a review just to please a certain group is practically career suicide imo. Catwoman? WTH is that, never heard of it wink

lol Love that last part. grinning

yeah... its a different world from 2004... especialy when it comes to gender in media, parricularly in the US... we'll see when actual moviegoers get to see the movie...

Right now it has 97% fresh critic rating on RT... 77critic rating on metacritic with no negative review (22 positive, 2 mixed)... we'll know for real soon... will be interesting

Wow the ratings look promising now I im really hyped I've always wanted a WW live action movie and when I saw her in BvS she was incredible but we didn't see much of her but soon we will.

She was actually the highlight of BvS if you ask me.

Couldn't agree more 100

That's naive though. Critics are OBVIOUSLY subjective and/or are victims of peer pressure too. They read the online buzz and decide subconsciously what they will most likely say (great/bad etc) and then they hear others' reactions during their screening. If the other critics hate the film then it would be idiotic to not think that it could even slightly change their opinion, let alone make them completely change their mind about it.

If they don't please a certain group, as you put it, then they will no longer be seen as capable critics who ought to be respected. Instead, people will say that they are wrong (which is stupid of course) and their opinions are of no worth. End of their career. That's the sad truth.

Let's hope most critics are going to be unbiased and fair on their reviews whether they think it's good or bad. I know some people would hang a male critic if he bad mouthed the movie (even if he put a well structured reasoning with good points of why he hated it) and will be labeled "sexist" because it's a female lead superhero movie. But I still think based on the early reviews most people will like it.

I don't know about that. They gave Ghostbusters remake good review. And that was all around crap. No matter if men or women were in it. And its not like Critics haven't given good reviews to Crappy Movies Before. Cough Paranormal Activity Cough. Personally im not looking forward to this. And even with BvS. I not convinced that Gal Gadot can actually act. But that goes for Henry Cavill too. Also this movie has the same Score on RT as Logan. I doubt its that good.

Crap films with female leads that got stellar reviews:

Every Melissa Mcarthy film

Starwars; A new hope

Starwars: Rogue One

Ah man, you both have good points, now I'm worried the critics are going to hold back. For once I want everybody to take their heads out of their crap holes and friggin stop being influenced by the feminist media. Oh yeah, I'm PG I don't cuss relaxed

I saw the trailer yesterday or the day before. Seems really cool!

Have a friend who got an early screening pass. She loved it...said it was a little long though...but still very good.

And for what it's worth...it's certified fresh on RT now at a 94%

I'll call it now, #2 movie of the summer behind Spiderman. Dunkirk looks like it could be up there but likely won't appeal to as wide of an audience.

Frankly looking at the numbers. It looks like it will make about the same as Man of Steel did. So it will either be lowest grossing DCEU movie or the second lowest grossing movie. And Man of Steel actually made 16 million more then Wonder Women during its opening weekend. That pretty sad considering how much positive reviews WW is getting and how horrible reviews there were for Man of Steel.

The thing is though Man of Steel cost around 225 million to make and Wonder Woman cost around 150 million. That makes a difference when you are figuring out how profitable a movie is.

Everybody I know is thrilled about this movie I bet at $100mil opening at lease.
