Discuss Wonder Woman

First off, why did the Earth look like that at the start of the film? Has the effects team not got access to google so they could see pics of it? It looked like a bad computer game composite. The clouds we huge and for some reason were thousands of KMs high.

Anyways, the action was dull, too much bad green screen and those silly slow motion flips wore thin in the first few seconds. One of the best potential action sequences had the strangest editing ever, one second she's kicking the next it cuts to her face as she flicks her hair in the typical tough girl fight sequence pose.

Ares had no presence in the film. He is the reason she leaves to fight in the war and we dont even see him until the last few minutes. He claims the problem is humanity, but when he is killed we get scenes of all the Germans hugging each other. It completely contradicted the message the film was trying to get out. I cant help but think it would have been better if the film was set at the start of the war and Ares dying had no effect. The start of the film has the Amazons talking about Diana as if she cant learn the truth of her origins and that Ares would find her if she knew. But the 'truth' was so mundane and uninteresting it begged the question as to why anyone would care.

We are subjected to the typical 'round up a team' kind of scene late into the film, the team was completely useless to the story though. It all ended up being filler.

It did have some really great moments, which is why I think it is much better a film that Man of Steel. But it could have been so much more.

i agree with you - i thought it was average. the pacing was off - the first half was over long and was becoming tedious. then the action ramps up with the no man's land scene. i have to say i don't really get why people are raving about what happened there. essentially she took a barrage of bullets with her shield, which i did not think made for very riveting viewing. there weren't any wow moments in any of the actions scenes for me.

the characters were underdeveloped, and with the exception of steve's death, the scenes lacked any emotional substance. we see diana's distress at the death of that town from mustard gas, but we don't feel any of it because we did not see her interact with any of the townfolk, nor were they given any character. same with steve's crew; with so much time to play with, perhaps we could have had a little less of diana's early life and a bit more about what motivated steve's friends and why they cared about each other. the scottish sharp shooter who could not shoot was a complete waste of time.

ares was really disappointing. not menacing at all, given he is the embodiment of war. not good casting imo. my one disagreement with your review is that i can understand why diana's family did not want her to know who she really was and her purpose. given she is a humanitarian, they would have been fearful of how she would cope with knowing she was a weapon created to kill. however given her no big deal reaction to knowing the truth, they needn't have worried. i would have preferred to see her reel from that knowledge, at least for a while

the one positive about this film was that at least diana was allowed to have some humanity about her, enjoy life and enjoy people. that is who clark kent is too, but snyder has ruined him, which is why i am not looking forward to justice league.

this is the best film of the 4 DCEU released so far, but the bar is so low, that does not mean much.

I just came back from viewing WW. Right now I do feel it was pretty average. I agree with your sentiments; the summersaults and flips were cool the first 2 minutes and then onwards it felt like a gimmick.

Having a quintessentially English-looking man portray a definitively non-English deity was a bad, bad choice.

Overall I felt the movie was very pedestrian and paint-by-numbers. I rolled my eyes at least 5 times.
