After he was shot, he reappears at the end of the film in full health. I'm thinking Estes spell of protection back fired causing the hookman to live on after being shot and tied them to the characters who he took items from.

I wish they had gone with the original idea for three. Apparently it would've featured the characters returning against Ben one last time. I wish as three was the worst sequel ive ever seen
