Discuss The Grinch

The one from the 60's is pretty much perfect. You don't have to add anything, change anything, develop the character anymore. it's meant to be a short. even at 80 minutes this thing is padded out.

The original was perfect, a collaboration between geniuses, and I'm perfectly serious about that. I believe that Dr. Seuss was a brilliant poet, that Chuck Jones was a truly great director of short animated films, and that Boris Karloff is a marvelous actor who never got the respect he deserved. All three bought their A-game to a half-hour TV special, and the results are so good we've been watching it ever since.

That is just not the sort of thing you want to remake.

So it IS a retelling of the same 'ol "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" story!?!? Lame! Thought it might've been a prequel of some sort since the Grinch looks like a kid.

And I agree with you Mrs Peacock, the short is a an EXACT translation of the book without much added fluff..the story doesn't work in expanded form..usually adds more then what we need...but it didn't stop it from pulling in $66 mill over the weekend.

I wish it was a prequel. So they do something different. But it's another remake.
