Discuss Red Sparrow

Will this be a series or a standalone movie? My understanding is that the author is writing a follow up novel to the one Red Sparrow is based on...

Also, if serialised will this be the female James Bond?

I have to admit, I like the idea of seeing a seductress spy movie, but I generally don't like series...

Thoughts?

If it makes enough money, they'll make more - whether there are more books or not.

Film sounded interesting at first, but the trailers make it look as if it's primarily an excuse to ogle JLaw in a succession of revealing cossies.

The trailers do make it seem as if it is an ogle-fest directed at her, but in fact the movie doesn't really do that at all. The book did, though. It was one of the more annoying things about it.

Given that it looks as if the movie is going to lose money or not make that much, we won't be getting a sequel. Too bad, because the second book was really, really so much better than the first.

They can't even make another male bond series. Bond is just weirdly accepted in this magic area of endless sequels while everyone else wish they can have a series like it but they all fail after two or three movies. Mission impossible is the only other spy film that seems to actually be doing well.
