Discuss Wonder Woman 1984

What with the way too long and drawn out amazonian olympic games where the events don't really make a lick of sense, but I guess it's not a surprise if the rules don't either. After that silliness is finally over the payoff is a huge letdown as I suppose was to be expected: it was all to deliver a cookie cutter moral lesson to our hero.

Also while I'm here what's with the amazons talking english in some russian imitation accent? Did they forget what movie they were filming? Girls this is not "The Russia House 2"!

I haven't finished it. I watched about 53 minutes and turned it off. After she meets Trevor again it started to feel a little hammy. Does it get better? I remember I felt this same way about Birds of Prey and it just got worse until the credits rolled.

Funny you should mention it I stopped earlier at about 52 minutes when they were in bed and the guy was talking about eating pop tarts. It seems that the first hour or so is quite slow and not really interesting. I assume this movie had a decent budget when taking into account the success of the first one, but it somehow feels and looks a lot cheaper than the first one. Not to mention the whole plot and pacing was way better in the first one. Hoping it will get better, but I'm a bit sceptical.

Well, I'm slowly chipping away at this movie and I have to say I am quite astounded how quickly this wonder woman was ready to have sex with some totally random dude just because his old Steve's spirit or whatever was in him. Wasn't old Steve from the WW2 era? I don't think they thought very highly of floozies like that back then. This is obviously a very big plot hole in a movie like this.

I should also mention that reaching the halfway point of this film there is very little action in this action/fantasy/adventure movie and the whole thing is more reminiscent of a romance movie like Notting hill or something. Seems like the success of the first film got into Patty Jenkins' head somewhat. In the beginning in bold letters it reads "A PATTY JENKINS FILM".........After watching half of it I'm starting to think it would have been a good idea to replace that with "AN ALAN SMITHEE FILM".

I finished it. Huge drop off in quality from the first film. After and hour and a half you get a couple of all cgi action scenes. There was one especially cringe worthy scene where she is lasso swinging from lightning bolts. I can see why this went straight to streaming now. It looks like a B movie similar to what you would see in the supergirl show. DC really does make terrible films. They should stick to their darker tone films and let marvel handle the comedy action films.

That pop tart scene was weird also. His eyes were all big, “ I must of ate 10 of these “. Are we meant to believe he was high on sugar? Such a dumb film.

Actually, they're doing exactly what they did in the first movie, the women playing the Amazons are imitating Gal Gadot's naturally thick Israeli accent in order to normalize it by giving it an origin. They thought it would be weird if the only person in Themyscira with an accent was Diana.

He's actually from WWI, which brought about the Flapper movement. So he wouldn't have minded that so much, plus he'd already slept with her in the first movie. I saw one reviewer who thought it was more strange that Steve was ok with White people eating with Blacks openly, but you have to take some liberties in a family friendly film.

I didn't like it either. The main villain is an evil genie but he has a kid so he's not so bad. Also his plan was to grant everyone's wishes to achieve more power even though the wishes were going to destroy the whole planet. Just kind of dumb all around.

And Kristen Wiig was very, very miscast. Not threatening at all. They might as well have cast Betty White as Cheetah.

Well, I finally watched the movie to the end and I had to check, but it seems that the budget for this movie was 200 million $. For comparison the budget for the first Wonder Woman was 150 million $, which begs the question why does this movie look and seem like it cost so much less to make? It just feels like an inferior production all around, and in many parts seems like a B-movie and not something you'd put ouf for a wide theater release.

Also, to illustrate a point about the terrible decisions DC/WB makes I would like to briefly talk about "Justice League". Yes, that turd directed by Josh Whedon. I would just like to remind people that with all the terrible decisions Whedon & co. made with that film it has been said they had the rights to use John Williams' Superman theme song. Yes, that theme song that is probably one of the most iconic movie music pieces ever made among "Indiana Jones", "Star Wars" etc. What did they do with that opportunity? They completely blew it and it is used in the movie for a few seconds in a forgettable scene where it is very easy to miss. Now why did I bring this up? Because it seems WB/DC/Patty Jenkins have made the same mistake with this movie (among other mistakes). They have the theme song from the first movie which is very recognizable and generally well liked. What did they do with it? Well, it seems that they almost completely abandoned it and it is barely used in the movie. What makes matters even worse is the missed opportunity with the trailer music. Most people will probably remember the "WW 1984" trailer from it's highly liked music track by Sebastian Böhm ( Blue Monday). People responded very well to the trailer and especially to the music track. So what did they do with that opportunity? Absolutely nothing. The track is not used in the movie at all and like WW theme from the original it is replaced with unmemorable generic stuff with the exception of John Murphy's Adagio in D minor used in the flying scene. You will probably recognize Adagio from countless other movies where it has been used like "Sunshine" and "Kickass" etc.

Also while I'm here I might as well ask what was the point of that golden armor? I understand it must be something they took from the comics, but talk about a lazy and hackneyed way to incorporate it into the movie. That thing was weak.....powerful weak! It could stand the power of all mankind but not one roid raging chick? Might as well left that crap at home.

Since this movie seems like it is way too long one should also ask what was the point with the Amazonian olympic games and the very deep and profound lesson our heroine gets in the beginning? Throughout the movie I kept waiting for some forced and corny scene where she will remember this very important lesson and use it to save the day, but that scene never came and that lesson seems to have gone to waste like viewers time watching this movie.

I'll link some of the songs I mentioned so people will know what I'm talking about:

How is that strange? There have always been people who aren't racist.

Cause during WWI it wasn't the norm as racial segregation was still in full effect in America.

Stupid, too long, absolutely bad, one of the worst movie I've seen in months.
