Discuss The Mist

For some reason, perhaps because I watched one of RedLetterMedia's "Re-Views" or because I'd heard that a TV series reboot was coming this summer, I started thinking about movies that made me yell at the end. This was one of a few movies, including Se7en, that completely caught me off-guard and shocked me. To me, that's one of the hallmarks of a good film; you're so engaged that it has the power to make you involuntarily react.

I don't mean movies with twist endings or Scooby Doo endings where a death suddenly comes out of nowhere or the hero dies because it's intended to shock. Movies like The Sixth Sense were clever, but I didn't walk way pondering it long after.

What movie or movies made you react strongly, or became the subject of conversation for weeks afterward, because they were so effective and/or surprising?

yeah. I read the book and the ending in that was no where near as shocking. they left it vague with them just driving around not knowing what would happen to them. I read that the Director, Frank Darabont changed it to the ending that we see in the film and producers didn't like it. He said he would walk off the film if they touched the ending. Glad they left it alone.

Im trying to think of any movies that actually made me react. I can think of a couple but I wouldn't say I yelled. Maybe audibly gasped or just felt mad would be more like it

  1. Se7en- Great Ending
  2. Gone Girl- definite anger over this one
  3. Friday the 13th. (actually i did yell/scream at the end of this one because it scared the crap out of me. I was 11 when I saw it)
