I didn't do it :-)

But, there must be a reason for whoever is doing it — since Marvel Entertainment has been "absorbed into other units of Disney", wouldn't that indicate ME no longer exists?

Marvel Entertainment is currently credited as "in association with" according to the official website so it shouldn't be added unless someone from the company or someone representing the company is credited as some form of producer in the final credits.

@raze464 Marvel Entertainment is listed on IMDB under production companies. Marvel Entertainment’s logo is featured in the trailer and on the posters. All other Sony Spider-Verse movies Marvel Entertainment. You are clearly choosing at RANDOM what you want under the studios tab. It’s out of control. Why not just follow the rules and include all the studios listed on IMDb?

IMDB shouldn't be used as a primary source for modern or upcoming TV shows and movies. As a user-generated database, IMDB should only be used if there is no official information available (anymore) or to double-check information found in secondary or primary sources (Source Reliability).

The logo used for Madame Web has "in association with" at the top of it. There is presently no one from the company or that represents the company credited as some form of producer and it's unknown if the final credit will be presented in association with (e.g. Columbia Pictures presents, in association with Marvel) or produced in association with (e.g. Columbia Pictures presents, a(n) X / Y / Z production, in association with Marvel). If the credit ends up being the former, Marvel Entertainment should only be added if someone from the company or that represents the company is credited as some form of producer. If the credit ends up being the latter, then Marvel Entertainment can be added as they are credited as part of the production companies.

All other Sony Spider-Verse movies Marvel Entertainment. You are clearly choosing at RANDOM what you want under the studios tab.

How is it random to add Marvel Enterprises/Studios/Entertainment as a production company when they're credited as a production company in the credits of the respective film?

  • Spider-Man (2002) and Spider-Man 2 (2004) both credit Marvel Enterprises as producing the film (Columbia Pictures presents, a Marvel Enterprises / Laura Ziskin production)
  • Spider-Man 3 (2007) credits Marvel Studios as producing the film (Columbia Pictures presents, a Marvel Studios / Laura Ziskin production)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) credits Marvel Entertainment as producing the film (Columbia Pictures presents (shown the opening credits), a Marvel Entertainment / Laura Ziskin / Avi Arad / Matt Tolmach production (shown in the end credits))
  • The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) credits Marvel Entertainment as producing the film (Columbia Pictures presents, a Marvel Entertainment / Avi Arad / Matt Tolmach production)

Beginning with Venom, Marvel's credit has been changed to a "presented in association with" credit:

  • Venom (2018) is the first one that credits Marvel using a "presented in association with" credit (Columbia Pictures presents, in association with Marvel, in association with Tencent Pictures (shown in the opening of the film), an Avi Arad / Matt Tolmach / Pascal Pictures production (shown in the end credits). Venom has both Marvel Entertainment and Tencent Pictures because Stan Lee (representing Marvel) is credited as an executive producer and Edward Cheng and Howard Chen (CEO and VP of Tencent Pictures, respectively) are both credited as executive producers.
  • Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) also credit Marvel using a "presented in association with" credit (Columbia Pictures presents, in association with Marvel, an Avi Arad / Lord Miller / Pascal Pictures production, a Sony Pictures Animation film) and Stan Lee (representing Marvel) is credited as an executive producer for the Into the Spider-Verse and Brian Michael Bendis (also representing Marvel) is credited as an executive producer for both movies.
  • Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) also credits Marvel using a "presented in association with" credit (Columbia Pictures presents, in association with Marvel, an Avi Arad / Matt Tolmach / Pascal Pictures production). There is no one from or that represents Marvel Entertainment credited as some form of producer on Let There Be Carnage. Marvel's "in association with" credit is likely because the movie is based on an IP they licensed to Columbia Pictures.
  • Morbius also credits Marvel using a "presented in association with" credit (Columbia Pictures presents, in association with Marvel, an Avi Arad / Matt Tolmach / production). There is no one from or that represents Marvel Entertainment credited as some form of producer on Morbius. Marvel's "in association with" credit is likely because the movie is based on an IP they licensed to Columbia Pictures.

The studio and producer of all of the film listed above, Columbia Pictures, is already present as a production company in all of their entries. IMDB shouldn't be used as a primary source for modern or upcoming TV shows and movies. As a user-generated database, IMDB should only be used if there is no official information available (anymore) or to double-check information found in secondary or primary sources (Source Reliability).

Dude. I just saw the completed film. The credits for the movie say Columbia Pictures Presents in Association with Marvel, Madame Web.

  • TSG Entertainment is also listed.

I think you’re just mad this is a Marvel movie.

Why would I be mad Madame Web is a Marvel movie? And how is what I feel towards a movie relevant to the information that's added to the movie's entry on TMDB?

Since the movie has now been released and I haven't seen it, I won't edit the entry anymore unless it's something I don't need the credits for, like images or videos.
