Discuss Bullet Train

When a movie is so over the top it is May be a little bit too long and doesn't really lead anywhere, but overall I think I enjoyed it. It was not cringeworthy, Brad Pitt seemed to be enjoying himself which leads to a more humorous film overall What did you think?

This was a fun ride!!! Maybe it was tad bit too long....but the stellar cast, the cut-away backstories of all the assassins, the humor..... all of that made this an absolute treat to watch! But that train should have derailed many times before Kyoto :D

I dunno, I found this to be overly convoluted and trying too hard. Not the worst thing I've ever seen, but it was like a cheap imitation of Guy Richie.

And I hate to pick on her specifically, but who are Joey King's parents? This girl is in so much stuff and she's not particularly talented or pretty so I can only assume she's someone's daughter. She's an okay actress but she gets far too much work for her talent level. Maybe she just has a really good agent? It was such a shame that Zazie Beetz and Karen Fukuhara were only on screen for about 5 seconds while we had to tolerate King's smarmy character for the entire film.

you're wrong about Joey she is pretty enough to be in this. Brian Tyree Henry outstayed his welcome, him shouting at the old lady was funny but he got boring real fast after that. Joey has been on the odd Netflix movie she's hardly the sun that can be seen everywhere on the planet daily, so calm down.

It's not that she's not pretty, she's what the kids would call "mid", just not pretty enough to explain all the work she gets.

Just look at her filmography, she's 23 and she has 73 credits already because she's been in at least 3 movies/shows almost every year since 2007 when she was 8 years old, most of which were not hits, and the few that were were not hits because of her. In 2018 she has 8 credits ranging from movies to TV shows to voice work. Either she has the best agent in the universe or she's got a family connection, I'm willing to bet money on it.

I just noticed that I kept seeing her in things and couldn't figure out what the big deal was. Kinda reminds me how Michael Cera was in everything for like 8-10 years and then suddenly dropped off the face of the earth despite being unattractive and not very talented.

So you're baffled by Joey in this but not Brian Tyree Henry? Does he pass for pretty enough in your book?

Henry's first credit was in 2009 when he was 27 where he played small roles mostly in TV shows. He's clearly a character actor, and fairly decent from what I've seen. He may also have a connection, but it looks like he's actually had to build his portfolio and be funny and has never or rarely plays the lead where he gets top billing or his face is even on the poster of movies in most cases unless it's shared with other people.

King has starred in far more movies at 23 than Henry has at 40 so your comparison doesn't make that much sense. Steve Buscemi also plays in a lot of stuff, but he's rarely the star, has had a long career playing great roles in popular movies, and is usually a supporting character. King, as I keep pointing out, is often the top billed or second billed star in a lot of the movies she's in, that's the part I don't get. She's not top billed in Bullet Train but I just took this opportunity to ask the question.

For such a young actress she has not displayed a sufficient measure of talent to warrant so many leading roles. In the past women who got so many roles in such a short time tended to be insanely attractive, were at least in one big hit and Hollywood was trying to cultivate a rising star, or they have a connection who gets them those jobs (usually someone's kid, like Scott Eastwood, who is a pretty bad actor).

You say she's often playing "the cute girl", which I just don't get. That's like saying Michael Cera played cute boys, no he didn't, he's kind of awkward and funny looking and she is just kind of average in looks, and that's with all the makeup. I do not see King being mentioned in the same breath as Margot Robbie or Scarlet Johansson or Florence Pugh, all popular actress who get tons of work. Lilly-Rose Depp is the same age as King and also in a lot of stuff, she's also Johnny Depp's daughter so duh, but has still been in far less stuff then King so that strikes me as odd.

My brain just can't make sense how King gets so much work despite lacking in both the looks and the talent area. This is why I assumed her parents either have connections or she just has a great agent, because nothing else makes sense to me.

I haven't seen any of her work as yet so cannot speak to her not having any talent BUT she has a sister (Hunter/Haley) who I have had the unfortunate opportunity to see multiple times, who definitely has zero talent. On her last show, you could see her boobs & lips grow larger as the days/weeks went on!
