Discuss Midnight Run

This is not only the 3rd funniest film of all time, it's Robert De Niro's 2nd best film!

I gave it 6/10. :p.

It's been years since I seen it, but I don't think De Niro has ever really convinced me in a comedy and the other lead I didn't warm to (reminding me a bit of Gene Wilder with the sort of hyperactive mania I dont warm to). I must also have thought the script was solid but unspectacular. Don't hate me!

He "milks" it on the comedy front...

I really enjoyed this film, but I think it only worked so well because of the chemistry between Bob and Grodin as I don't think Bob can do full length comedy on his own.

I did read somewhere that Bob wanted to temporarily move away from serious films, especially after completing "The Mission", "Angel Heart" and "The Untouchables" just prior to taking on Midnight Run. And good for him because it was a delight to see another side to his acting skills - a little stilted perhaps, but in Grodin's company it worked very well.
