Zendaya is rumoured to be Denis Villeneuve’s choice pick to play young Cleopatra. She is the fan's favourite, and not some random, famous actress.

I don't see her portraying cleo but anyways. She's not a random female actress but surely not the fan's favorite. I think Denis was just too lazy to pick someone elsewhere. He saw her playing in his sand movies and thought like "OMG IT'S CLEOPATRA".

There will definitely be as much controversy than the show. And even MORE in my opinion. Hollywood is awful at making historical accurate movies.

She isn't Egyptian, she is from Algeria.

Also, the Ptolemaic dynasty was Macedonian Greek. The only thing that made Cleopatra VII Egyptian was that she was born in Egypt.

Yeah I know. I'd rather have a North African actress (non Egyptian or greek) to portray Cleopatra than some American/Israhelli actress that Hollywood picked.

For the Macedonian roots, my take will be Tonia Sotiropoulou. Greek actress. Look exactly like her.

My other take will be May Calamawy. Egyptian/Palestinian actress. Non greek but could perfectly play her.

They both could be but if Villeneuve wants the movie to make any real money, he will probably go with someone with more recognition.
