The director Stanley Donen has passed away aged 94. Best known for Singin' in the Rain but with a number of other notable movies to his credit, including the lovely Two for the Road.

Wow: I hadn't heard that also Mr. Donen has passed. (Seems like a lot of famous deaths lately.) He's someone who was seen frequently for decades, then seemed to essentially vanish in recent years.
Uncanny timing, his taking his big final bow now - this being Oscars weekend.

...yes, and it's particularly crushing to have him pass so soon after Albert Finney, the star of one of Donen's most beloved movies.
This is looking to be a tough year for sad losses.

Right that is really sad about losing Donen and Finney.
Also sad about the loss of many other great celebrities in recent months.
