Discuss Matt Bomer

As reported in the Hollywood reporter and copied elsewhere.

This seems (to me) a bigger lose for Matt than anyone else, Lily Collins has lot's of films with name actors/director's, generally a buzz about her, an actress on the rise and Kelsey Grammar has a play in London, followed by opera in LA, and how does he need to work with residuals and the fortune he earned for Frasier? Billy Ray has scripted a Di Captions/Scorcese film.

For Matt, Walking Out on a limited release following respectable reviews, Anything fate unknown but unlikely to be significant, straight to DVD or streaming? A cameo in a 3rd small film, TV directoral debut and maybe Broadway in 2018.

Hoping for some casting news re Matt soon. The Anne Rice Lestat project has potential with the sexy and supernatural elements but that's probably no more than internet hype.

Agreed re: all you mentioned on his projects. Disgusted. TLT was one of the reasons I was still holding out on ditching Amazon. They just made it easier. However... what will happen to the existing eps?

I don't know, do the existing episodes continue to be available at Amazon? I think cancelled series, as opposed to pilots that didn't go to series, are a new situation at Amazon. It may mean the series is realised sooner to other TV channels. And with no legal DVDs for Amazon series this might be in some sort of limbo.

It just might be good unfortunate timing for a series at Amazon as a blockbuster is seemingly required ala game of thrones. Better reviews might just have saved it too. Think it's unlikely any other streamer or channel will take it on.

It looks like older cancelled series remain available on amazon.co.uk at least

Looks like there's a petition to find a home for TLT. I doubt it'll work but I've signed regardless.

There's also a push to review To do Rotten Tomatoes. I must confess I hadnr5even thought to do so previously, in fact, have no read a single series review (throughout read and participate in the pilot reviews months back.

I'm sad it's cancelled but in all fairness the series was too slow according to current standards. I loved it a lot but if I remember correctly I did skip a lot of scenes. I was hoping to discuss the details of the show on the TLT board or here not sure of it's utility now. Would still love to talk about it tho. For me, the Aubrey/Hannah romance was too long drawn. I skipped a lot of the stuff. Rose & Kittie was too detailed. The Nazi/Jew storyline should've been a punch in the gut but it wasn't except the scene where they return back to Germany. I liked Max Miner subplot. Imo every episode should have atleast one ""WOW" moment which first half of the show lacked. I thought the final episode was absolutely brilliant with so many such heart stopping moments but wasn't enough. I wish the story could've continued with a tighter script. I'm sad. Matt made Monroe Stahr come alive brilliantly. I really think with better writing he could've earned an Emmy nom if not an Emmy! Hope another network picks it up with a promise from Mr Billy Ray to pick up the pace. I do think this series could be a great one.

Agreed. Aubrey/Hannah felt tacked on just to give the actor who plays Aubrey more to do. Rose & Kitty seemed to be leading to something much more. Since it didn't happen... yeah, too involved. Granted, it gave Rose a kick in the gut she needed, but neither of these offshoots touched the main storyline, so they seemed disjointed from the show and a waste of time.

Monroe/Rose felt like an explosion that fizzled... though I adore Rose and love that she has the character to let him go, that was a delicious little complication I was looking forward to gradually seeing more of; yet they wrapped it up early, as though they knew they weren't getting another season. I'm glad they knew enough to not do that with Celia/Monroe (Celia's couch/fantasy scene hinting that she's still secretly infatuated).

As much as Billy Ray (was it him?) said this should be an ensemble, I disagree to a point. This story was ultimately about Monroe. Secondary to him was Monroe & Pat's relationship, as well as Monroe/Celia. Monroe, Pat, Celia, Kathleen & Rose were the meat of the show and needed to stay that way, not straying too far from center. Imo, that's why White Collar was so successful - the writers always remembered the show's original logline. It was the story of Neal Caffrey, con artist, complicated anti-hero; then Neal & Peter - con artist working with FBI agent. Everything else that happened was in support of that story. I often felt bad that some of the actors received less screen time, but it worked.

BTW, sorry about my typos of late. I sometimes post without my glasses and fail to notice fat-fingered mistakes or overzealous spellcheck.

Billy Ray seems to think TLT has a chance somewhere, judging by his tweets. I don't think it's typical of directors to lobby for the resurrection of tanked projects when there's no hope, is it? Or does he have nothing else going on at the moment?

If someone does pick it up, wouldn't the more busy players have moved on by then?

Yes he keeps giving us hope on twitter. I doubt he will get the 5 seasons he wants. Maybe a 2hr movie or something? I hope so. Would like to see Monroe Stahr's story get some sort of resolution.
