I have no problem with him as Superman. My problem is with the writing of these movies. He can only do as good as the writing allows him to do. MC, to me is based more towards kids. DC, I think, could have the upper hand if they would take it. Batman and Superman are characters that most of us have grown up with. DC has the ability to go darker, more dramatic, than MC if they would. To me, they have the ability to draw in a more adult crowd, if they'd get the writing right. I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone with this. It's hard for me to believe that Bruce Wayne was that upset with the carnage that was left behind from MOS. In the Batman movies things get destroyed all the time. What about those people? Remember that one Batman movie that was introducing two face? Didn't a building get blown up or something in that? What about all those high speed car chases that endanger the good citizens of Gotham? Batman has a dark backstory. DC has shown us that with every movie about him. They need to use that in a better way than it drove Bruce Wayne to go to an Eastern country and learn fighting techniques from Liam Neison's character. With Superman, he didn't start out as pc as he is now. They need to let him revert to that personality just a little. I get DC wants to keep Superman as the adult boy scout, but come on. They can still sell their kiddie shirts and action figures, etc. to the children even if they went a little darker than they're going now. Parents will be drawn in and still take their kiddies to watch. Sorry, for my rant.
Freeny, don't apologize for your rant! I thought it was hilarious-- In the Batman movies, things DO get destroyed all the time. I agree and I also agree with Rumplestilkin, I think he is good. It is true, you can only be as good as your writing, which I think is the same thing for Amy Adams too. I usually like her and I feel like she doesn't have strong writing either. But I do enjoy the movies overall. I kinda like the DC because they are more "adult" than the fun Marvel Iron Man movies. I liked Captain America because I thought that was a little darker and less superficial than Iron Man, if that makes sense.
Marshjes, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm glad someone else noticed how much stuff gets blown up in Gotham. Let's just call a spade a spade: Bruce Wayne's problem most likely comes from jealousy in different aspects of the two characters. It mostly just boils down to this: Bruce Wayne is just a rich man with toys and Superman is an alien with superpowers that Wayne can't purchase.
After Christopher Reeve, I thought no one would be able to replace him but Cavill has done a damn good job imo.
I really like Henry Cavill as the new Superman too. Brandon Routh did a good job imitating Christopher Reeve. However, Henry really looks like the Superman in the comics or how I’d draw Superman.
Christopher Reeve’s Superman was too clumsy. HC’s Superman is too depressing. But HC’s square jaw is almost cartoonish and that makes him the best Superman.

From what I read about Superman’s history, his creators first envisaged him to look more like Lex Luthor.
Any actor with dark hair, blue eyes and a bulky physique can play Superman. In fact, the physiques of Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are very much alike, so much so that in the animated movies there are instances their likeness is always made fun of.
Decades from now, if more Superman movies are made with different actors, I guess future generations would say the same thing about HC, that he was ‘before their time’.
