Norika talks to a driver who parks illegally. She then deals with an upset drug addict at a chemist. The girl is later found badly beaten and her prescription missing. Dashwood is worried that there is something fishy about the prescription. Dashwood checks out her doctor. Tim Able is upset at how a father reacted to being asked about his son's tax disc. Frazer is concerned about Able and Garfield's statement taking. She sets up a role play situation so they can practice. It is interrupted by a gas mains leak.

Jim has brought a new suit. 27 motorbikes including a police bike have been nicked. Garfield and Viv notice 2 youths stealing a bike. When they raid the garage all they find is the license plate of the police bike. Able is assigned to deliver a notification of death. A case that Melvin spent 2 weeks on is going to be dropped before going to court. The man involved is going to complain about Melvin who nicks him for assaulting a police officer.

A raid on a crack house sees DC Carver arrest a young prostitute, Paula, for possession of drugs. While waiting to be processed in custody, Paula is distraught, saying her infant daughter is in danger from her pimp who will hurt or kill her if he doesn't get the crack she was bringing him. Despite DS Boulton's lack of sympathy, Carver convinces his colleagues to raid the pimp's flat and save the child.

Boyden tasks Garfield and Ashton with setting up an observation on a parade of shops where a gang of young dealers have been operating. When they catch a youngster taking a package left behind by a dealer, a search of his home uncovers a log of transactions. The pair hope they’ve found their ringleader, until Cryer identifies the boy and his mother of the family of a Barton Street sergeant who died of a heart attack during a raid a few months earlier. Admitting he has been tailing the ringleaders to supply Barton Street with info, the boy agrees to help Garfield and Ashton bring down the gang responsible. Meanwhile, an old flame of Boyden's approaches Harker with info an armed robbery involving her husband. Boyden is skeptical, but Harker is convinced of her story when she says her son is involved and she wants him to avoid punishment. However, when the raid goes ahead and the boy dies after being hit by a car during his attempts to escape the scene.

PC Jim Carver returns to duty after undergoing treatment for his alcoholism. Unfortunately for him, he is paired with PC Dale Smith and their first case involves alcohol! Attending what first appears to be a racial assault at a post office, Carver uncovers a scam to sell thousands of pounds worth of illegally imported alcohol to off-licenses. Smith and much of the relief don't trust him, and after a Customs raid on a off-license which turns out to be an empty building, Carver must go out on his own (and on his own bicycle!) to find the person behind the scam.

Conway is astounded when an elderly man, Charles Arthur Cullen, a former police officer, turns up at the station with a suitcase containing half a million pounds, which he claims to have found on the street. Conway asks Hollis to count the money independently but he only manages to count £499,920. As Rickman counts the money again, Conway decides to do some digging, as surely no-one could be that honest. He discovers that the land on which the money was found has recently changed hands, and is now in possession of the Met. As the scam begins to show all of its true colours, Conway attempts to bargain with Cullen in order to get a deal which suits the both of them just perfectly.
