Discuss Star Trek

What in the names of the late, great, Lorene Greene, Richard Hatch and Dirk Benedict is wrong with NBC? I read one of the recent YouTube Nerd COOKIES Channel videos which is claiming that BG will be remade AGAIN! Thoughts and reactions please:

@bratface:Does the Milky way Galaxy really need another re-boot of Battlestar Galactica now? Ancient Alien Theorists say "no." Even Giorgio Tsouklos's hair says "no!"

I don't really care, I didn't like the other two.

I guess they don't think they've ruined it enough, yet.

@bratface:There's only so many times you can reboot THE SAME BLOODY SHOW!

Well, nobody is forcing you to watch it (if it does get made). There are so many other things to watch.

@bratface: True, but if people can complain about Star Trek Discovery 24/7, I can complain about this. Besides, I have no plans to watch it, just thought I'd mention it.

I wonder what "twist" someone thinks it hasn't already gotten.

They already did the South Park Kathleen Kennedy bit: "Put a chick in it, and make her gay!"

In the Star Wars and Star Trek franchise there has been numerous prequels and spinoffs in the past years. Everyone wants to create their own lucrative extended universe.

It could be another prequel like "Caprica (2010)" and "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome (2012)". Perhaps going as far back as exploring the beginning of Kobol.

It could be a series from the viewpoint of the Cylons. Or about the dynasty of one of the main characters as a soap drama. There could be aliens - non-human, non-Cylon - in the new series. One of the other fleeing groups - not Battlestar Galactica - could be the main focus. There is enough choice for a spinoff.

What about a sequel? The colonization of Earth by the refugees of the colonies and Cylons; the hardships, romance, political intrigue, wars, rise and fall of empires and civilizations, etc..

If the show is successful, then, like in the other franchises, there will be more prequels, spinoffs and sequels, to build this extended universe.

The problem there, of course, is that "success" doesn't mean nearly as much as it used to.
