Discuti The Keepers

So no one has any thoughts on this really? Like who might have done it? These are the times I miss IMDb, I know there'd already be at least eight threads. What did people make of that Edgar guy (sleeping on the mat with the toys)? I mean, he fessed up to some stuff but stuck to his guns that he was un-involved. I couldn't peg him.

I know, I went to reddit to read discussions about the show: https://www.reddit.com/r/The_Keepers/

I think Maskell's more likely. Edgar seems crazy but idk, maybe he and the other guy were hired to kill but their link's also a bit weak. Frustrating that it's still not solved and how it was handled - at least got attention now.

Check out the archdiocese website - they even have a support link for victims of abuse (only now???)

This doc-series haunted me for days, horrible what happened to the victims and that nun in the attic - super creepy! disappointed

I'll have to check out the Reddit thread. It all does seem so bizarre though. I kind of would believe that Maskell would have someone do it for him. Like, Richard III or something (the character)...having someone else do the dirty deed for him. But I wasn't convinced it was Edgar or Billy either. The driving with both feet thing seemed unusual, but maybe Ed was just confused. And yes the creepy nun in the attic! That was so spooky. It seemed Billy was mentally ill to me, maybe he believed he did it because he saw her that night or something, but he didn't actually do it himself. I couldn't see what his motive would be.

I was spooked because the Malooey (or whatever) guy is currently the bishop where I live...I was like, wonderful. lol (Sarcasm). So I did google that diocese and saw he made a statement too...then I saw how the Baltimore site had all these videos and FAQs about the documentary. It's all pretty troubling and disturbing to say the least. I hate the Catholic church's systematic covering up of all this. Moving priests around. It's hard to trust any priest now which is unfortunate (as someone raised Catholic). I guess, to me Sister Cathy exemplified what is good about Catholicism...what it SHOULD be. But it's incredibly hard to trust any priest/bishop/whatever after all this abuse stuff came out because to me it's hard not to think they're all somehow "in" on it. Not necessarily all abusing, but they are all in on keeping it hushed. And that's beyond wrong (to say the least). You can forgive sinners and all that happy sh*t but they should go to jail and not continue to put children at risk, wtf.

One person that also really bothered me was that Sharon May...the state attorney/prosecutor who smugly kept reiterating how there was not enough evidence to make the abuse claims into a case or bring criminal charges. Her responses seemed so defensive and smarmy, too. What would be her motive? I can "get" in theory the Catholic Church wanting to hide their evil secrets, but why her? Why was she so smug about it? And is that really true....that having multiple witness reporting similar things is not enough in itself to press charges? You need to have multiple forms of evidence for each report? I just didn't understand her or her attitude at all. She pissed me off. I wonder how she sleeps at night. I guess you need to be somewhat callous-hearted to be in a job like that but still...

I was searching for that Bishop and ended up here: http://bishop-accountability.org/priestdb/PriestDBbylastName-M.html

Sharon May...the one who dug up the buried documents of Maskell? Then all ruined by water etc? Like why do to the trouble of hiding something - and I believe the statement was it Deepthroat who said that pedos can't destroy their collection. Cos in the news whenever someone's caught - they all have collections.

And the letter...wish the sister opened it instead of giving to the police and now it's like nowhere to be found. Even the guy they were interviewing was like surprised that evidence was gone but there's a record that it exists and was transferred to them.

Sorry can't remember all the names. But really - kudos to the 2 women investigating.

I also went to similar school - all girls Catholic school run by nuns and have had cool nuns as teachers. So this is all so shocking & a bit relatable.

Sharon May was the one who pissed me off the most. Now, I understand how documentaries can be edited to make anyone look bad so I take it with a grain of salt, but if we're to believe how she was portrayed then I can only assume she's complicit. Her motive? District Attorney is highly political job and, as we kept being told, Baltimore is a very Catholic city. I would think the Archdiocese wields an enormous amount of influence (or did) that extends to the police, politicians, and the legal system. She came off as callous and smug, but I suspect she was either a victim of her own ambitions and/or got caught up in something way bigger than her.

Oh, and close second would be that sleazy lawyer for the Church who kept blaming the victims for not speaking up sooner. I can't even...
