Discuss Damages

It's all about the damages Patty sustained at the hands of her father, and how her experiences might save Ellen.

Ellen was heading down the same road, win at any cost. Why? To prove something to her abusive father. But that's a fool's errand, the only destination being ruination.

As I mentioned in a separate post, this story was not perfectly told. But, having arrived at the conclusion, it was well worth the ride, and the poignant resolutions to the two women's arcs demands overlooking the shortcomings to radiate in the triumph and frailties of the human condition.

A bittersweet tragedy - bravo!

Been awhile since I've seen the series. My interpretation has for the some time been that the title was an allusion to the damages that all the characters experienced, either in the single minded pursuit of their ambitions(Patty, Ellen)or in their attempts to cover up embarrassing details of their lives, as was the case with many of the secondary characters in each season

I'm okay with that!

It's quite layered, and we both appreciated that it was a little more than simply a story about lawyers who seek damages for their clients.
