I think it was written to be either season or series ending. The show has been on the cancellation bubble for a while now. At least it didn't end on a cliff hanger.

I agree that it could be either. I prefer it when a series ends that they don't wrap up everything in e neat little package and have everyone go their separate ways, officially ending the story.

I think it's a wrap. First season was mostly good, but this fourth season was - well, not so good.

Ichabod Crane is 250 years old, has spend 200+ years under ground, yet he hasn't been laid one single time -- What's up with that!?!

There's lots of fine, beautiful women around him but he's not dipping his straw in the nectar, not even once. Is Ichabod Crane gay?

The big flaw with this show, is exactly that -- there's no romance at all, not even a hint, and you can't have a show like this without any romance, there has to at least a little.

Somewhere you missed 2 seasons. This was the fourth. I'm happy they didn't introduce a bunch of romance, it gets boring, especially when there are better stories to tell. I was a little worried when they got Katrina out of purgatory. Thought they were going to go that route and very glad they didn't.

You're absolutely right -- of course it was the fourth season, and not the second, and I apologize for the mistake, and I didn't miss two seasons, I've seen them all.

Regarding the romance, yes I agree about the over-the-top amount some shows do, but no romance at all isn't good either, because you loose a big part of the female audience -- they tends to like that kind of stuff -- and less viewers, the faster the show gets cancelled. So as said, a bit of romance isn't bad.

I was wondering about the middle seasons, because while the 4th season wasn't the greatest, I thought it was a come back from 2 and 3. But probably too little too late. The problem I have with romance being inserted into shows (that aren't romantically driven) is that they usually end up being over the top. It gives the writers a built in crutch, which far too many will use without hesitation. Can't come up with 42 minutes of primary story? No problem. Just insert a little romantic interlude or romantic strife. Seems like that happens all too often.

Ichabod is technically still married to Katrina. Is she dead or just lost in time? A lot of times fans say romance ruins the show but you are saying the opposite?

As said, over-the-top romance and soap drama DO ruin a show, and that's not what I'm asking for - only a bit of romance without all the drama, that would be nice.
