Discuter de The Leftovers

I think the reason THEY didn't take Nora is that they knew she was lying. Although they denied it, I think the-baby-at-the-bus stop WAS a part of the test. I think her act of helping the mother with the baby contradicted her answer to the cancer-baby question.

Also, I remember that the guy in the car that Kevin Sr. saw set himself fire had said that he had answered "No"...and he didn't get chosen. So, since Nora answered "Yes"...the determining factor has to be more than whether a person answers either/or.

Not sure if they felt that she was trying to set them up. OR, it could be that they were concerned about filling the "New Place" with the same old by-any-means-necessary types that have wreaked so much havoc in this “Old Place”. But whatever the reason, I'm sure they knew she was lying.

Yea not really sure what either of you posed is correct

Only cuz they gave us the VW guy who seemed very damn adamant of going. So much so he lit himself on fire. Nothing logical either way given the answer Yes & No both resulted in sorry Charlie you don't get to go.

Is it some subplot of again the extremes some of these groups that form will go. Cult or non cult or whatever. Even that other Doc was flippant about ODDS. She seemed content with its not a place to go and Physics doc saying she had everything on earth she needed.

Was the song by A Ha, "Take On Me" significant? Lyrics make it seem so

We're talking away I don't know what I'm to say I'll say it anyway Today's another day to find you Shying away I'll be coming for your love, okay?

Take on me, (take on me) Take me on, (take on me)

I'll be gone In a day or two

So needless to say I'm odds and ends I'll be stumbling away Slowly learning that life is OK Say after me It's no better to be safe than sorry

Take on me, (take on me) Take me on, (take on me)

I'll be gone In a day or two Oh the things that you say Is it live or Just to play my worries away You're all the things I've got to remember You're shying away I'll be coming for you anyway

Take on me, (take on me) Take me on, (take on me)

I'll be gone In a day (Take on me, take on me) (Take me on, take on me) I'll be gone (take on me) In a day

Your point on Sara who we assume is Nora DAMN. We haven't considered it to be Nora's daughter. Kevin's kid. There is talk of Nora being pregnant.

If their love child then maybe would explain looking like Nora & answering question of knowing Kev.

The theme of family & no family certainly is a focal point of Leftovers. We've seen for sure the ups & downs, the struggles and joys of all in Leftovers. Especially in times of chaos with the departure, in times of change in Jarden and now again in Australia.

Side note, I guess Laurie is going to confront John about the book of Kevin. Which I'm guesssing is what triggers all to head to Australia.

Sara didn't look like any spring chicken. For her to be Kevin's child (and for him still to be searching for her) he would have to be "The Lost Horizon" old.

Unless Kevin can't die; or life expectancy has taken a giant leap...no way is Sara Kevin's child.

The song didn't connect for me when I heard it in the show; but now that you mentioned it I'm reminded that the 14th (15th there) will soon be here.

Now, I thinking that maybe these "Gatherers" are doing as Noah did before the last great flood. That is, culling those that are worth saving.

After all, knowing as much as they do about Nora, it makes no sense for them to try and con her when there are so many, many more easier, willing (less dangerous) targets out there.

As you said, it certain would be great to know "something else" about the guy that set himself afire. Maybe such knowledge would reveal a "common" thread that ties him/Nora/yes answers/no answers together...

...this show sure does keep its viewers on their toes!

Injured hand = sucky typing. worried

Could it be that the cross-over group always tells the applicants that they are not worthy? Either they are scam artists and that is a fire wall against sting operations or it is a way to filter out all but the determined believers that won't take no for an answer. I have a suspicion that we won't be shown for sure if it is real. The evidence points to them being legit on the surface but we are at the mercy of the writers.

Invidia, your point about them getting Nora's blood is poignant. It is scary. If that is their only goal then it fits with the "Sorry, you don't get to play" line they give. You have been more right than wrong in your guesses. Sometimes even down to exact wording. I still don't think Nora is being set up by the guy she stole the list from but I'll admit that the odds-makers probably don't side with me anymore.

Yea I know a huge stretch. Since it was a flash forward could it have flashed say 100 yrs forward to show Sara who would look like Nora but old. Huge assumptions like not knowing Kevin, messages from doves...maybe so far ahead in time & some event that occurred back when she was born created current ways at that point in time, like riding bikes & communication by birds? LOL

I doubt very much this is case. @Invidia posed idea that made me think way outside box 😘

What sticks out is how they now have a *SAMPLE of her BLOOD. *

YES! A real head-scratcher.

Unless (as suggested previously) they are a part of the group that suggested Nora is a LENS; and on the sly they were looking for some kind of ("genetic" ?) marker.

If that's the case; then a Yes or No answer to the baby-question is just a red-herring (and a very clever one)...to cloak their real purpose."

Because knowing her as well as they seem to (her gung-ho stance when it comes to Departure frauds) I guess they knew she would be "all over" a chance to expose them.

As for my hand...doing fine...thanks...should leave green-thumb-work to those who know what they are doing. relaxed

What exactly did you do to injure it?

Were you working with a CACTUS plant or something?

Did an insect bite you?

Moving plants and stuff from the front yard to the back...got ambushed by a bag of topsoil.

@Invidia said:

How on Earth did the bag AMBUSH you???

Did it fall on top of your hand?

Here's part of an article and a REDDIT comment for you regarding NORA:

read:https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/07/arts/television/the-leftovers-recap-gday-melbourne.html

Thanks. Interesting read; except I don't think the women did their families in.

We are talking about two desperate, anxious women here. Nora hiring people to shoot her in the chest because of her anguish; and Grace helping to kill a man in her quest to find The Right Sheriff Kevin" to help her. These do not sound like the actions of people who, if they murdered their (unwanted) families, should be relieved.

As for hand: tripped over dirt bag (ha ha)...got sprain (minor) breaking my fall...still a little iffy...but OK.
