Discuss The Leftovers

Any idea(s) about why Team Matt’s means of travel was aboard The Love Boat? Why not a fishing boat? Why not a boatload of religious folks on a retreat? Why not something as mundane as an everyday class reunion excursion?

Been racking my brain; and have not been able to come up with “the reason”, “the lesson”, “the point” , “the tie-in”, or “the whatever” we are supposed to take away from how the group was forced to travel.

Any thoughts? What did I miss??

Any thoughts?

Maybe a homage?

Maybe just because sex sells?

Maybe because they wanted to have Matt , a preacher, be in an environment that would be in total chaotic opposition of his usual one (a church)?

There may not even be a “the reason”, “the lesson”, “the point” , “the tie-in”, or “the whatever” we are supposed to take away from it.

Not until you mentioned it, I had not thought of it as The Love Boat , I was thinking Sodom and Gomorrah- especially when I really paid attention to all the freaky sex stuff that was happening in the background.
