Discuss Preacher

Has the show been locked for a third season? Seems so as this season is moving at a dreadful snails pace with little to nothing moving the arc along.

Jesse is not going to find God. He has to realize this. Once he does then?? Nowhere to go and all the time to get there.

The Men in White (nice twist on the Men in Black legend)? Why would Jesse even come under their radar? He isn't preaching an alternative doctrine or performing miracles. He's just some nut looking for God in NE jazz clubs! So in a world with flying pigs and exploding celebrities, seems there are bigger issues than a lone preacher.

Add to this the arc in hell, which I have no interest in at all, the Saint of All Killers in an armored truck at the bottom of a pond and... "yawn"

Season One rocked. This one has been a serious disappointment (so far).

The ep I saw awhile ago did bore me rather badly, I must admit.

I have to disagree. This last episode with the backstory of Herr Starr was one of the best to date. If you are watching this show to get to the end, you are missing the fun of the ride. There is a lot more to this show than the plot. That said, it is clear that they aren't exactly aiming to please everyone.

Season one was pretty slow too. But since the Saint of Killers has been at the bottom of a pond nothing has really happened of too much consequence. I knew once they got rid of him, the show would lose a lot of tension and it did.

Chances are, being of supernatural nature, he'll find a way out. Even if, I mean is that what this arc is about? Pretty sure they are not going to find God so it comes down to The Men in White, The Saint of All Killers Vs Jesse and Co.

Last season had it's moments but all series do. It is like past ep four and through the middle till the final couple, shows that are not 22 per season hit a soft spot (so do the longer ep shows but a little later; like post Mid-Season finale). I felt season one kept the interest in the main arc alive, whereas this season is well, as I stated, meandering. I agree last weeks ep about the origin of the main Nazi, excuse me, Man in White was pretty good; but all it did was, storywise, was confirm Jesse is his\their next target. Which as I mentioned makes little sense as he poses no ideological threat (other than saying God is missing but... really who among the many millions are going to believe him?).

Anyway... still time to pedal to the metal as they say.

The Grail are investigating and eliminating supernatural phenomena. They have the reincarnated Christ locked up, waiting for the right time for him to become The Saviour. While waiting they are ridding the world of other, possible threats. Like the flying pig. And they know that Jesse has the Word of God, that is why he is their next target.

And oh, the last episode was really boring. Not much happening. I had to laugh when Jesse screamed "All that for nothing!" when the DVD didn't help. That was how I felt watching this episode.

Ha! I was about to write a similar thing! Only using the scene where Jesse is sitting on the bed and sighs heavily! That is about how I have been feeling of late watching the show!

So Tulip makes pals with a Woman in White. I mean aside from the uninteresting (to me anyway) trips to hell and Cassidy brooding over whether or not to make his dying son immortal nada happened. And that that did was not all that great. (And honestly why would a 70 year old man, who will be 70 forever if made, want to be 70 forever? If being vamped meant he de-aged to 35 or so I could see it; but technically in most lore you remain the age you are when made. Guess the fear of death is the motivator.)

Not sure if Seth and Co have lost interest or there is a major master plan behind all this but we only have a handful of eps left so... hope whatever this is leading to gets there!

After this last ep I have decided the producers are trying to kill the show.

I am inclined to agree with you.

Among other things, ...a brain dead, drooling, pis sing on the floor bast erd son of Jesus?? WTF? That wasn't even funny, Seth and the rest of them must have had some bad smoking herb pill mushroom .

Or maybe they have read the comic. Humperdoo was pulled straight from the comic book. And very funny.

Ok. So it was pulled straight from the comic book.Just because something was pulled from the original source does not equal funny. It may have been funny in the comic. I may have even thought it was funny if I had read the comic, but it just wasn't funny to me at all on the show. I just thought it was stupid- the way a flat joke is.

It is also not possible. That result of inbreeding only occurs with actual inbreeding. Unless the generations of Jesus descendants all were f**king their sisters the idiot factor would not have weighed in to the bloodline. The mothers, I assume , were all unrelated to the Jesus child and his heirs. So... no Humperdoo.

Also, speaking as a very tolerant Christian, grace is not passed down. Jesus was full of God's grace because God himself caused the pregnancy without sexual intervention by a human male. The Jesus child would be having good old sex and probably not in a marriage situation which in God's eyes makes it fornication. Fornicators along with murderers, thieves and liars are all on the "No Way into Heaven" list (unless they truly repent) so... born out of sin the Jesus heirs would have no more Godly grace than any other person "born of woman". Thus the Guardians have been completely delusional.

In the comics the Grail kept the bloodline pure by doing excactly what you are saying here, having the direct descendants f*** eachother. So the idiot factor weighs in for 2000 years.

And since both the comics and the Bible are fiction I believe the show writers are free to spin God and Jesus and all their glory in whatever direction they choose.

You mean you believe the bible to be fiction. Stating your beliefs as fact. I was clear in my perspective before I began the "grace not passed down" rant. I may be tolerant but do not challenge me.

That's fine. I just think it's silly to rant about how one fictional universe doesn't follow the rules of a different fictional universe. And I don't need to challenge you, just keep watching the show and you will be challenged more than watching the inbreed Messiah pissing on a preacher.

I bet dollars to donuts that there are hundreds living descendants of Jesus today just like of any important historical figure.
