Discuss Victoria

Does Jenna Coleman wear contacts for her role in Victoria? I'm looking at her bio-pic and it appears to me that she has brown eyes but in Victoria they are a stunning blue. What gives?

Did either of you see 1997's Mrs. Brown https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/17589-mrs-brown, starring Judy Dench as post-Albert Queen Victoria? I thought it was quite well done.

I've seen it, liked it very much. But it's mainly because of Judi Dench. I'm also waiting to see 'Victoria & Abdul', I'm #1 on the list at my local library, so I should get it some time next week. Have you seen it yet?

A little late in responding, sorry. I have a copy of Mrs.Brown somewhere. I think it's a great movie, especially Judi Dench, but when has she ever done a bad performance? It was funny seeing her and Geoffrey Palmer together but in dramatic roles - it's a big change from their roles together in the BBC sitcom _As Time Goes By._ I wonder if she'll make an appearance in Victoria? That would be interesting.

Which is showing on one of my local PBS station every Saturday night, it comes on right after Keeping Up Appearances. Although I wish they would get some new (well new to us) comedies. I think I have seen the two (plus others) a million times.

I did finally see Victoria & Abdul & gave it 7/10.

As Time Goes By and Keeping Up Appearances are my two favourite britcoms. The entire cast of KUA are wonderful but Patricia Routledge is just fantastic. Haven't seen Victoria & Abdul.

I recently read somewhere that there is question about whether, as the Victoria character eventually significantly ages and gains physical heft, tiny, beautiful, very youthful looking Coleman should be replaced by an older, heavier, more matronly, "plain" looking actress, or if Coleman should be aged and made to appear heavy via padding, make-up effects, and wigs.

I'd like to see Jenna continue in the role for as long as possible, though doubt she'll be right for the part once the Victoria character is into her 40s and beyond.

In the current TV Guide magazine issue, there's an article, for which Jenna Coleman was interviewed, about the series.

She was asked: "If the show covers Victoria's entire life, would you rather end up in old-age makeup or cede the role to another actress?"

Her response: "There's going to come a point when no matter how much prosthetic you use, it's not going to be realistic for me. I will definitely have to pass that baton off to somebody else soon."
