Discuss Neon Genesis Evangelion

Item: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: The description for Neon Genesis Evangelion spoils a minor plot twist for the show (the fact that the 2nd Impact was not a meteor but instead was a result of an experiment on Adam by the Katsuragi expedition). It also provides a minor spoiler that Evangelions are not completely robotic, instead calling them "bio-mechanical"... though, I suppose this being a spoiler could be debatable.

It also has some minor errors, such as the remnants of mankind moving underground - plenty of people live above ground in entire cities! One final pet peeve is that they didn't capitalize "Nerv" as "NERV".

The current description works, but it could be improved a lot more if a proper summary was given.

Hi! How would you propose rewriting the overview to remove possible spoilers?

Hi - deeply sorry for the late response. Like seriously - my apologies that this is getting back to you nearly a year later. What're your thoughts on adapting the Netflix description for use on TMDB? Or what about an original combination of it and the IMDB description? I can understand if you have qualms on doing that for sake of copyright, however. With that in mind, I would assume just making some minor adjustments to the current description would be best:

15 years after an apocalyptic meteor impact decimates the Antarctic, devastating infrastructure and killing millions, Mankind's last remnants have consolidated into major metropolitan areas and the UN formed large, fortress-like cities underground, awaiting the arrival of otherworldly monsters dubbed "Angels", who seem to be seeking out the extinction of mankind. The UN fights these giant apocalyptic beasts through a special agency, NERV, that employs young teenage pilots for experimental weapons, the eponymous Evangelions. Watch as Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Soryu, and a slew of other characters struggle against the odds.

I tried my best to remove any mention of the biomechanical nature of the Evangelions, but honestly that isn't a big problem. I also adjusted the description a wee bit to include the above-ground cities in Evangelion - underground fortresses are featured, but they are by no means a replacement for the good old metropolitan areas we call home. The biggest and most important change was the opening of the description: I removed At the turn of the century, the Angels returned to Earth, seeking to wipe out humanity in an apocalyptic fury. and replaced it with 15 years after an apocalyptic meteor impact decimates the Antarctic, devastating infrastructure and killing millions, Mankind's last remnants have consolidated into major metropolitan areas and the UN formed large, fortress-like cities underground, awaiting the arrival of otherworldly monsters dubbed "Angels", who seem to be seeking out the extinction of mankind.

I'm going to be honest, though - I'm not sure if my description is really that much better. I think it certainly does a moderately better job at switching the terminology around so that it doesn't imply that the Angels kicked off the Second Impact, which means it isn't as big of a spoiler. What're your thoughts on this?
