I don't believe I've ever seen this movie, but a short time ago heard Joe Cocker's terrific "You Can Leave Your Hat On" (which I've always loved) playing, looked up its music video on YouTube, and realized it features footage from this movie. I'm posting the video (which I hadn't seen in years) for old time's sake, and because it's such a winner!
Here's a related Joe Cocker thread.

I loved this movie (Mickey Roarke was still hot!). Many people said at the time that Roarke's character mistreated Basinger's character, but that's not how I saw it. It wasn't a healthy 'relationship' but it was consensual. It had mixed reviews when it came out (Roger Ebert loved it). I suppose you either love it or hate it. Plus the music was great.

I noticed yesterday that both TMDb and IMDb currently show a viewers' rating of about 60% for this movie.
Mickey Rourke's looks sure have changed (as in he no longer looks recognizable as being the same person) since '86. Meanwhile, I yesterday saw some recent pictures of Kim Basinger. She still looks good and lovely, but now has that "processed" not-quite-natural look that so many Hollywood great beauties of past decades eventually wind up with courtesy of cosmetic procedures.

Interesting film that I used to think of as the shit. My very first girlfriend and I really got a kick out of it back in the eighties. Now I don't think so much of it. For some reason, all across the board it seems like filmic couples who engage in kinky sex like this one just don't end too well. I don't want to say it's because the filmmakers are passing judgement on them (ALL of the filmmakers) but it seems that way.
