God, I love this film. It is so cleverly told and Martinez's score is just perfect. The flashback sequences shown right before it actually occurs was just brilliant. This film really shows Soderbergh's talent and potential. Better than that Ocean's 11- 427 or however many of that garbage he spewed out to pay the bills.
The Limey (1999) - 8 outta 10 stars

I thought Solaris and Che were both pretty good.

I like Soderbergh's Solaris , dare I say this, better than Tarkovsky's. I know that is blasphemy for film connoisseurs but Tarkovsky's was just too long and boring. Soderbergh employed a lot of the techniques in that film that he used in The Limey and also Martinez on the score as well. I loved the score.
I do need to check out Che. You gave me an idea for this weekend.

If you love it, surely that would mean giving it more than an 8?

I've been meaning to see this for the longest time.

As my handle implies I am a bit harsh when judging films. Trust me, an 8 does mean I love it. I have over 1600 ratings and possibly ten to fifteen of those I gave a 10. With the 15 estimate being on the high side.

What films get your 10 rating?

Off the top of my head some films would include The Godfather , Pulp Fiction , The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and The Shawshank Redemption . There are others I just can't think of them at the moment. I remember I gave American History X a 9. Perhaps Double Indemnity or Casablanca were others.
