I might have guessed Herzog wouldn't play it by the book. Maybe I'm a but slow, but even after the opening scene it took me a long while to realise that this was intentionally absurd. There are some real standout moments in this and I think I'll have a hoot rewatching it.

The dealings with the old dear in the care home are great, but for me the highlight has to be the two scenes involving a captivated Eva Mendes and a spoon. I have no idea what will have been going through her head while Cage shows her his dusty garden shed!
