Discuss The Silencers

The first of four Matt Helm flicks w/a pretty decent cast and some humor. A lighter alternative to James Bond, but not as goofy as Get Smart. Martin and Stella Stevens are a good combo.

Can't overlook the Derek Flint flicks.

I liked the first Flint outing better. Then things declined. I actually preferred The President's Analyst over In Like Flint. The Helm series declined somewhat but then recovered with The Wrecking Crew. But neither series can match Connery's Bond--not that they were ever intended to.

Duh. zzz

Come to think, the Bond character sort of did as well over time.

Of course he did. expressionless

Pretty sure PT 100 was alluding to that when he had said previously [emphasis mine]:

Thus his curt reply.

Yes, to anyone familiar with the Bond series and the parodies thereof, it was obvious that: the parodies were parodies, even when they had plenty of drama and suspense; and the Bond series itself gradually became more tongue-in-cheek, and even occasionally downright self-referential, as when George Lazenby said in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, "This never happened to the other fellow," referring cryptically to Sean Connery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biSKZZXZbYE
