Jim said something to the bartender that allowed the bartender to tell Aurora that Jim woke her up. I didn't catch the dialogue. Could someone tell me what Was said? Thanks!

We all knew that when he got up to leave, everything was going to hit the fan. How could he not have seen that?

This is perhaps the greatest counter-argument IMO. Well done!

he said that there were no secrets between them, i.e. jim and aurora...

Except that Aurora received triple his salary despite not having appeared until thirty minutes into the movie. all the while blubbering on about the wage gap in Tinseltown to any interviewer foolish enough to ask her to expand on such comments whenever she makes them, rather re focusing the conversation on the movie. Not a "secret" only in the sense that one has to research her allegations a bit and can't take them at face value.

Lawrence made $20 million and Pratt made $12 million. I don't know why...did she demand it? There are countless other people who could have played that part. They didn't need her for all that money. Pratt was the star, and along with getting almost 50% less he also was reduced to second billing. Granted I did like Lawrence in this, I don't think she was worth that much and I havn't really liked anything she had done before.

most people still don't know who Pratt is, whereas Lawrence is a bona fide global star, as much as is possible in her generation... no comparison... Pratt is no Gosling

And all this is relevant to the question: "Why did the bartender tell? (Spoiler)" how exactly?

no one outside of the US knows who prat is... everyone in the world has thought deep thoughts about jennifer lawrence... not literally, but not that far off either ;) ... anyway, their pay for that movie is hardly a representative datapoint in any sensible discussion on wage differences between the sexes or otherwise... it's anecdotal at best and they're kind of asking for scruitiny about their own value if they're going to make a point about it...

as to the chemsitry bit, i think that was an intentional part of the movie by the director to show that Jim literally had to be the last man alive to be able to get aurora, etc... hahaha... just kidding ;)

anyway, leaving a woman alone with the only thing that knows your dark secret was a rookie mistake, so Jim was asking for it... in a way, maybe he wanted to be caught due to deep seated guilt... thoughts?

Way to bring this back around. As to deep seated guilt, I don't think so. It was played as if he was having the time of his life and just got "careless." No matter what, I think the moment--as obvious as it was--was one of the highlights of the film. It was the "oh no he didn't" moment on which the film pivoted.

What makes you say that?

I think this was done on purpose. I think the director wanted us to be yelling, "JIM, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING???" He was so in love with the moment he thought was about to happen that the bunt obvious flew right over his head.

But Jim asks the bartender directly to allow him to be the one to tell her that he woke her though.

Exactly! That's why I think what the bartender was cockblocking.

@mechajutaro smiley Hi! How are you! Haven't talked to you for awhile. The first time I saw the movie and it came to the scene when Arthur tells Aurora that Jim deliberately woke her up, I wanted to dismantle that Robot. Now I've read all of the postings on this thread and I still want to dismantle Arthur. Could you please explain to me if and I'm being an idiot about this? Thanks.

They were all talking about age and not saying what her age was, and she said to Arthur that there were no secrets between her and Jim. Arthur looked at Jim almost puzzled and said something like "really?" and Jim said "you heard the lady"...having no idea that he just indirectly told Arthur he can freely talk about him waking her up, thinking that Jim had told her. Jim conveniently walks away so Arthur can do just that!

I love Arthur's look when Aurora walks out of the bar all hysterical. He's like, "WTF is the matter with these people?"

Yes, I'm Maria. My leg is getting much better, thank you. I'm happy for you that you finally got to see more of Jennifer Lawrence in the buff than is usual for her movies.

Apparently, you don't understand spoilers. Your message title is a spoiler... but I'm sure you knew that and enjoyed ruining the movie for some.

I'm not quite sure if you're talking to me, but if you are I apologise if I did something to upset you. Have a nice day.

I'm curious. Where is the spoiler in the title?

AI on the movie are able to understand and do vocal dialog, but they're quite limited on processing logic. Remember how the bartender almost bugged to deal with the false fact that pods never fail and still Jim was there.

The bartender is able to keep secrets because it's common for bar customers to unburden secrets to them. But once Jim said there was no secrets between him and Aurora, the bartender understood that him waking her up wasn't a secret anymore. He seemed to talk about it to her as if she alrdy knew, so I'd interpret that he understood that Jim had alrady told her before that moment.
