Discuss Avengers: Endgame

Warning: party pooping ahead.

With the X-Men being my fave Marvel characters I was obviously excited at the prospect of seeing them mix with the MCU. But does that notion really carry the same appeal now that half of the original Avengers have been retired. Iron Man and Captain America were the most established and iconic of the MCU stable and seeing the X-Men on screen with them would have been so good. Especially as Tony Stark's easy going, arrogant humour would clash nicely with the sincerity of the X-Men. But that will now never happen.

There may be many other characters but most haven't established the same kind of presence yet. I still look forward to it but just not with the same kind of enthusiasm.

What you point out is indeed a downer. Tony is dead, and Cap lived out his life to old age with Peggy. I do suspect they may bring back to life the Black Widow in her own film, but the Avengers are forever changed. I also found out that Marvel will be doing a film about She-Hulk... the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be looking more diverse and exotic in years to come than ever before.

In X-Men-related news, I thought I saw online that Denzel Washington might be cast as Magneto... the future of the MCU interests me... still.

I believe Black Widow is going to be set before Endgame and She-Hulk is a tv show.

Interesting that Denzel Washington played Malcolm-X, whom Magneto is based on.

I read the same thing about Black Widow, but I kept envisioning it ending in the present, with her coming back to life. It's kind of hard to imagine her getting her own feature-length treatment, and remaining dead at the end of it. We will see.

She-Hulk is a TV show? Thanks for that information. Please consider not alienating people who may wish to take part in discussion with your expertise. By that I mean: You presented your info as if it almost disqualified me from taking part, like it negated the value of my words. We all make mistakes.

P.S.: You really come off as though you never meant for our exchange to be constructive.... LOL.

Magneto was not based on Malcolm X

His character's early history has been compared with the civil rights leader Malcolm X[8][9] and Jewish Defense League founder Meir Kahane.[10][11] Magneto opposes the pacifist attitude of Professor X and pushes for a more aggressive approach to achieving civil rights. Magneto was ranked by IGN as the Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time.

COMPARED TO AND BASED ON ARE VERY DIFFERENT.

Maybe. It did seem an odd choice to kill her off with her own film coming out. I would like to see a whole series of Black Widow films.

That was in no way my intention, I apologize. I've never had any beef with you, Satch. I just meant that I believe it's a tv show, as in I couldn't remember specifically. I don't really know much about either project which is why I didn't really expand. I guess it can sometimes be harder to tell a persons' tone from written words.

SHE DEAD...SHE STAYING DEAD..STORY OVER.

Peace, my man.

It was Chris Claremont, in the 1990's, more than 30 years after Magneto had been created,, and after more than 10 years of Claremont writing the character, who first compared Magneto to Malcolm X. It was an after the fact comparison, and a flimsy one at that, it is absolutely not true that when Magneto was created that there was a plan to base him on Malcolm X

In fact, the whole "civil rights" analogy of the X-Men was a late invention, only really arising in the 1980s, and was not part of the original concept.

When Magneto was created by Lee and Kirby, he was just a standard order supervillain, with motives no different from. any other supervillian of that era .
