Don't get me wrong. I get that it's hard to sing like that. I get that it's a story about protecting the one you love and how some people deal with a mental illness. But the singing, and the the way Foster Jenkins spoke and acted (and if she did so in real life, then I now have even more admiration for Streep) totally made me forget what was going on. I think I sat with squeezed buttocks the entire movie (Dutchism!). I hated every second of it. I don't rate many movies but I logged in just to rate this one with 1 point/half a star.

The egotism of Streep is beyond belief - first we had the mind numbing egocentricity of "Ricky and the Flash" and now this film where Streep just has to show that she can REALLY sing. After spending the entire movie squawking - suddenly out of nowhere she can be seen "singing beautifully". It really makes me want to throw up.

I must have fallen asleep or had a black out. Can't remember that.

I was reminded of a 1978 TV movie with Sissy Spacek in the title role of "Verna: USO Girl" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQiIiZC28ok&t=36s "Florence Foster Jennings" made me wish that "Verna: USO Girl" got these resources and treatment, but rich folk make their own rules.
