Item: Batalon
Language: pt
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: Hi,
I would like to change the title of the movie in Portuguese from "Batalon" to "Batalhão", because the literal translation of the title in Portuguese is "Batalhão", the same applies to the English title .
Thanks

Thanks for your report!
When it comes to the title of this movie in Portuguese, it's more important how this movie was released in Portugal or in Brazil (or in any other country in which people speak Portuguese and this film was released)! The literal translation can be added to alternative titles -> but we are looking for the release title in Portuguese. Do you know exactly how this was released - and do you have an official source for that?
I found a few webpages that use the name "Batalon" as a title - for example, these two:
https://filmow.com/batalon-t124900
https://aminoapps.com/c/comunidade-lgbt/page/blog/recomendacao-de-filme-batalon/6P3G_x8dCzu6jB8gXPdpPlzMXGabnQDpR6k
But I also found the following facebook post with a DVD cover that uses the title "O Batalhão":
https://www.facebook.com/josuedelima13042/posts/1879127532350532:0
The weird thing about this cover is the mix of Russian and Portuguese, so I'm not sure this is an official DVD Cover for the movie?
It's hard for me to find any convincing source/evidence because I don't speak Portuguese. If you have the time to search for proof, go for it! Until then, I won't change the current title; but I'll keep this discussion open for other moderators to weigh in ...

On this site we can watch the movie with subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese.
https://sovietmoviesonline.com/drama/540-batalon.html
It appears to be a site of the Russian government, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 1917 revolution.
In the legend pt-BR the title was translated to Batalhão.
The Language
The Subtitle
I do not think there was a DVD or Bluray release.
And neither in theaters.
I do not know if that's enough.

To me, it looks like a commercial streaming site. I'm not sure if legal or illegal, but I can't see any ties to the Russian government. But that's not relevant here ...
Okay, so this is a subtitle in Brazilian Portuguese, not an official title of a Portuguese release. This does not count according to the Contribution Bible:
"The translated title should be the first official translation. In other words, the title of the first - theatrical, physical, digital or TV - release. [...] The translated title field should be left blank [if] there is no official translation. Please do not add unofficial translations."
The subtitle of this stream is an unofficial translation, in my opinion.
The weird thing is that @lineker, according to the change history, added and locked the Portuguese title "Batalon" two years ago. I wonder why -> I'm going to ask ...

Update:
@lineker took the time and looked for the source for the Portuguese title "Batalon". But it's "nowhere to be found now"!
Which means we can't find evidence of an official Portuguese release at the moment, and that means the field for the translated title of this should be blank according to our rules.
However, "Batalhão" was added as an alternative transliteral title both to "pt-PT" and "pt-BR" now -> so you can find it via search.
Of course, if anyone comes across evidence of an official release of this title in Portuguese, we will change it accordingly!
