Discuss Ford v Ferrari

I know there are a lot of people that will disagree with me for whatever reason, but this movie rocked. Everything about it was perfect, the casting, the story just seemed to work together. I watched it knowing that I was a Ford fan and I knew that Ford was going to win, but through the course of the movie I was identifying Christian Bales's character, Ken Miles. I identified with the fact that he tried to stay true to himself and ended up being persecuted for his beliefs.

This was an awesome movie.

Haven't seen it yet but I will award it the best movie title of the year award. 🏆

You know it's weird, some movies just seem to "click" with some people... this on did for me. I absolutely loved it.

Matt Damon? Anything with Matt Damon in it if it's not as Jason Bourne then fucking forget it. He's rather forgettable.

Forget Damon. The stars are the cars.

Bale is definitely the star of this movie.

This film does seem to have people going mental. I am curious why. Not that I disliked it, it's an enjoyable film. It just seems strange to me how people have picked this film to go crazy over. It's not perfect, I could think of loads wrong with it if I tried. Josh Lucas' stereotypical corporate suit for example. But it is the kind of film where you can just get swept along and not let it's faults bother you.

Classic-film-storytelling.

Film students should study this film.

Yeah... Best of the year and reminded me of what real cinema is like... Now that it's been a while since release I feel this even more strongly...

I hope we see a return of such quality filmmaking and storytelling again...

It was alright, but the racing highlights were corny as heck. Like a video game with multiple overtakes on the same straight plus drivers constantly pulling alongside and looking at each other. I'm not saying it's an easy thing to pull off, but real races have better use of camera angles and on-board shots to capture the excitement in my opinion. Maybe it was poor timing on my part to watch this the day after a really good F1 Grand Prix.

Plus it was a little unusual to call it Ford vs Ferrari and then portray both companies as complete swine. Racers vs Corporations might have been more accurate given the portrayal of their lack of decency and / or honour.

Bale kept this hanging together though and it ticked along well enough for a satisfying couple of hours.
