Discuss Hounds of Love

I heard good things from the film festivals on this one and I must say I enjoyed it. A bit slow at times but I think it added to the tension. The acting was fantastic, especially Evelyn and Vicki. The actor playing John was also amazing. Did a really great job showing how abusive and manipulative he was. Even to the point of where he was sexually abusing her daughter and getting away with it till the dad came and took her away. Dont know if many people picked up on that. So you can only imagine how fucked up Evelyn was. You can tell they production didnt have to much money, but they didnt really need it since they only used a few locations.

The cinematography was pretty awesome. The over headshots of the forest and all of the stationary shots was great. Great use of doors and windows and space in general actually. Loved the slowmo of the girls in the into, really gave off a creepy vibe which was perfect for this film. I could see how more sensitive viewers might already start to feel uneasy just after 2 minutes in. Like said before the editing/pacing was abit slow but I think it really helped with the whole over all story. They lingered abit to long on the bathroom scene to show Evelyns anxiety growing in my opinion. I also enjoyed the fact that they didnt show to much of the brutal parts, I think the 'less is more 'approach works well with this film.

Really great soundtrack as well. We defiantly got the 70s/80s vibe from it. I can see how this might not be everyones type of film but I think you should give it a try. Really shows how far some people will go for 'love' and how twisted people can become. Always had a soft side for horror films like this. You know the ones that actually happen probably every day around the world. Ill leave you with this advice that I got from a former 30 year retied missing persons/detective back in college, "If someone ever tries to abduct you, you fight. No matter if they have a gun, knife or whatever, you fight. Its better to die right there rather end up in someones basement for the next year." So after that shiny note, a 8/10 for me.
