Discuss The House with a Clock in Its Walls

That's an accomplishment! Throughout Barnavelt over-acted like he was in musical theater with bipolar disorder. Jack Black no matter how over the top he got, was out shown by this kid who cranked up every expression to 11, though mostly it was straight faced or bawling his eyes out. Instead of feeling sympathy towards him as I watched him get beat up by a bully, I sided against him, saying to myself, "continue please, I get it". With all the over-acting by both Jack Black and Barnavelt, this film felt like it was all spectacle and no heart. I'd rather watch Gulliver's Travels again then this horror show (and I mean that not in a good way).

I hardly felt that way. The bully was cruel and manipulative. Lewis was a very intelligent kid thrust into a new school and trying to figure things out after the death of his parents. I didn't find him annoying at all.

The Bully looked like a young Ted Cruz.
