I assume it's that age old phenomenon when just about every high budget visual "spectacle" gets rather high scores in the beginning. Not sure why that is, but it is what it is. Anyways this movie had a lot of potential, but after a promising beginning it fizzles out rather quickly and ends up being a rather mediocre mix of comedy, action and serious dramatic scenes about family and loss. The comedy isn't very good and apart from a few chuckles throughout it's mostly a miss. The action scenes are fairly decent, but I think the rather poor casting choices make them look and seem worse than they really are. Apart from Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez who do a decent job and actually seem to have some chemistry just about everyone else seems miscast and it feels like the director/studio were more worried about ticking all those necessary boxes of virtue signaling than they were about casting competent actors who have chemistry together. We have the mandatory and stock standard black/white relationship and the end result is apparently a child that looks absolutely nothing like Chris Pine. It's the same actress from "65" and I thought the relationship was ridiculous in that movie when she obviously bears no resemblance to Adam Driver either, but it's even worse here. Then again maybe that's the message they wanted to send and the only thing missing is an after credits scene where Chris Pine, the wife, and the wife's boyfriend all sit on the Maury show and he comes out and declares "YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER" to Chris Pine. Now so as not to be too negative I think it's impressive Michelle Rodriguez basically still looks the same she did a few decades ago and apparently she is still playing the same character as well.
tldr; 2022 and 2023 have been absolutely terrible for new movies. Does this change that? Not really.

Totalmente de acuerdo. No entiendo las altas calificaciones que está teniendo, por qué realmente no es la gran cosa, un alto presupuesto para una película con términos bastante bajos.
Totally agree. I don't understand the high ratings it's getting, why it's really not a big deal, a high budget for a movie on fairly low terms.

All flash.
No substance.
