I thought that scene in the beginning encompassed quite well the stupidity that was to follow for the next 2 hours. You know the one in the beginning where the mercenaries gun down the "highlanders" in the ambush and are very clearly shown reloading their weapons (switching magazines etc.) right after. When the "highlanders" begin to rise one of them yells "Look out! Reload!" and they frantically start reloading their weapons again. Seems legit.
Also, since it was the object to capture them wouldn't it have been simpler to do it there and then when they had them on the ropes instead of trying to get individually later when they would already know they are being hunted. That would make too much sense for this movie I suppose.
