Extra Details: someone put this movie in the family genre.. obviously this movie isn't for the family. i made an edit but im not seeing it make a change. do i just have to wait?

Yes, that was obviously not correct. (Edit: And it usually takes 24 hours before you can see the cchange.)
Still, I checked several sources and all of those sources had only one genre listed for Poltergeist: horror. I changed it and deleted the others. Sometimes it's best to keep things simple.
