The "X" has been a recurring letter in Godzilla film titles, so there's the tradition part of it. For instance, Godzilla x Megaguirus (2000), Godzilla x Mechagodzilla (2002), et cetera.
Though in this case, it's just the team symbol.
Unfortunately, we can only dream for a kiss scene...

Would this new Godzilla taste like strawberries?
I’ve never seen those titles with an “X”. I’ve seen them with “vs.”

Technically, it's simply "Godzilla Kong". But no one will call it that; "G ex K" is what everyone calls it.

What does the "x" denote, though? Godzilla breeds with Kong? Godzilla kisses Kong?
Anyway, Edgar Rice Burroughs is now out of copyright. With this hollow earth stuff surely it's time for a remake of "At the Earth's Core"?

Damn they missed the Valentines Day cash grab!
A tougher question might be, are we all pronouncing it Godzilla like it's spelled, or are there any stans who insist on "Go-jira" 😬

Gojira is the original from 1954, all the rest are Godzilla!

I have an (American) friend who is a fan of the OG and his number plate is "Gojira". There is also a "Gojipedia".
That's a good point! Also, the Monarch logo is more an hourglass/sideways "Extinction" symbol.

American translations. The original title of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus is ゴジラ×メガギラス G消滅作戦, while vs. Mechagodzilla is ゴジラ×メカゴジラ

The Japanese use an “X” in place of “vs.”?

Only in those two, as well as ゴジラ×モスラ×メカゴジラ 東京SOS (Godzilla: Tokyo SOS). The "vs." (対) has been used a lot more in the franchise.

Since they’re allies in this movie, why the “X/vs.”?

It's not a "vs." in this case. It's more of a "&". The X can represent many things.

Why didn’t they just say “and/&”?
