Discuss Tootsie

Dustin Hoffman really got into the role. It's been a while since I've seen it but he was talking about how he realized through the role as Dorothy, how hard it is in society for unattractive women. He was crying. I've never seen an actor get so emotional about a role before. It's really worth a watch.

His acting was brilliant and I will never forget those memorable words "...I was a better man with you as a woman, than I ever was with a woman as a man..." It's been years since I've seen it, but it is on my list for a rewatch smiley

I've not seen the special feature, but he plays a women who is coveted by two men and possibly a woman! That's hardly unattractive. And it's a light hearted comedy, so I'm not sure what he'd be getting teary eyed about or what social lessons he could learn. Never trust an actor showing emotion!
