I remember him from an array of British t.v. good limited-run drama series he appeared in. In particular, I remember him from the superb 1984 The Jewel in the Crown, in which he portrayed the Ronald Merrick character.
Very sad news... he was still very active and due to start a theatrical run of Death of a Salesman soon, so clearly his passing was sudden and unexpected. RIP.
