Had to repost these gems. All of them are from Bosslogic's account who has such a keen eye and talent for this kind of stuff. He was my first meeting. I didn’t have writers or scripts yet – just a greenlight and a lot of passion. That was four months ago, and I’ve never forgotten the passion he brought. He IS Geralt. He always has been. I’m so thrilled to welcome HENRY CAVILL to the #Witcher family.

It’s not really medieval. It’s a fictional continent in a fictional era. The chosen outfits and hair styles don’t have to pertain to the medieval era.

Winterscomming

Finally, costume designer Tim Aslam talked a little about the outfits for the show, which you can sample above. “I discussed it with the showrunner at the beginning: it’s a fantasy series, it’s not really medieval. The style we have chosen is quite Gothic, and we have applied it to all aspects by studying fashion (which Lauren knows well) and the influences for the clothing of the various ethnic groups.”

https://winteriscoming.net/2019/11/06/the-witcher-showrunner-seven-seasons-lauren-hissrich/

Perhaps the Brazilian and Hollywood wax were all the rage in the fictional Witcher world. Cavill looks pretty hairy, tho. rofl

Kidding aside, Witcher is constantly compared to GOT and the latter was criticized for showing perfectly waxed women. With that in mind, the last thing the Witcher needs is to be criticized for the same thing. The less the Witcher reminds people of GOT, the better.

Redanian Intelligence: The Witcher

According to @Ba66ins, Henry Cavill "spent weeks sleeping in a trailer right by the set. He didn’t go back to the hotel in Budapest which saved him an hour every day, but mostly it meant that during the whole time he was in the Witcher world."

Every story that looks medieval is trying to be the next GOT. I didn’t care for GOT. But I don’t think it had monsters, mythical creatures, warlock and witches. It had humans, dragons and ice people. If I must compare TW with something, I’d say it’s LOTR meets HP.

Well, they were  in Hungary for months. Driving twice a day one hour for months can be taxing. HC had to work out, train with the sword, get his hair and makeup done and then shoot all day. It doesn’t matter how beautiful the hotel is, I’d have stayed in my trailer too. I’ll stay at the hotel in the weekends. During the week, my bf, a family member or friend can use it.

I’m very tempted to call Cavill a spoiled brat, because he's not the only one in the world who has to travel an hour to reach his work. Many people do that. And many people do that by public transport.

That being said, Cavill is not a spoiled brat. He’s one of the few people who has the option to sleep at work. If his trailer has a bed, an AC or central heater, a shower and a fridge, I don’t see why he wouldn’t stay. Many actors and actresses complain that they go late to bed and have to be up at an ungodly hour. I suppose Cavill was in a similar situation. So he gets two extra hours. I’d be surprised if he’d care for TV and Wi-Fi. But I’m sure he had them too.

Pump up to CGI levels of muscularity

The Telegraph published an interview with Henry Cavill on 22 December 2018 where it was revealed that "the role (Geralt of Rivia) will require him to pump his body up to CGI levels of muscularity". But Cavill indicated he was ready saying, "I enjoy the physical challenge. I'm lucky enough to have the genetics that result in quick changes. I can get really quite big if I set my mind to it." It was also revealed that Cavill would get his famous eight-pack abs back for the series.

Adapted deep voice

Henry Cavill adapted an incredibly deep manly voice to play the Witcher (as heard in the trailer) lowering the register of his already deep voice. Doug Cockle, the American voice artist who provided the voice for Geralt in the famous video games praised Cavill's deep voice saying, "What else are you going to do with him? You can't give him a squeaky New York accent or something like that. He's gotta have that gruff voice." Cockle said that many fans contacted him after the release of the trailer to ask him if Cavill's deep voice had been influenced by Cockle given the fact that Cavill is a huge fan of the video games and has played them multiple times so he would be extremely familiar with Cockle's voice.

Set reports also revealed that, Cavill maintained his deep voice on set even once filming for the day had ended.

Praised fighting skills

Vladimir Furdik, the veteran stuntman and fight designer (of Game of Thrones fame who eventually ended up portraying the Night King on the hit show) praised Henry Cavill's fighting skills as the best he had ever seen in his decades long career. Furdik spoke at length at the Eastern European Comic-Con 2019 about the "dance like" fighting style he created for Cavill's Geralt character, "I think Netflix made a very good decision to give the role to Henry because I don't know anyone else in the world who looks like The Witcher. Or any actor, who has as much experience with the sword as Henry. He's a very good fighter. So it was not difficult for me to teach him anything. He put in a lot of hard work in the fights.

Another thing was that we could not copy the (The Witcher) video-game. Video games are completely different. If you are going to kill someone, you can kill them from this side or that side or another side. You can put the sword in, in many ways. I hope you like his style, I tried to give him a more dance-like style. Something that is effortless. He goes through the fight as if he can predict what is going to happen. He knows 3 seconds before killing someone how he will kill him."

He also praised Cavill's quick learning skills at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2019, "Henry is excellent, without him they (Netflix) wouldn't be able to do (the Witcher show), I can guarantee that. I don't know any actors who are that good with a sword and fight scenes overall as Henry is. I have never met anyone who could learn fight choreography for a scene in two hours." Asked if Cavill was better than Furdik's Game of Thrones co-star Kit Harrington, Furdik replied, "Kit didn't have to do such complex moves in his fight scenes (as Henry)."

Broadcasting on Friday, December 20, the Irish talkshow host will welcome The Rise of Skywalker duo Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn), while Superman actor Henry Cavill joins them to discuss his new Netflix fantasy epic based on the Polish book series The Witcher.

As if those three weren’t magical enough, Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones are also scheduled to make appearances, where they’ll be creating even more anticipation for this year’s Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special.

Former X Factor judge and international popstar Robbie Williams will provide the music later on in the episode – performing a track from his new album The Christmas Present.

Emilia Clarke Opens Up About the Pressure of Doing Nude Scenes for Game of Thrones Fans

"They sent me the scripts and I was reading them, and it was like, 'Oh, there's the catch,'" she said of first learning of her intimate scenes in Season 1. But she "came to terms with that" before arriving on the set. As a newcomer in the industry and recent drama school graduate, Clarke said she didn't feel she was in the place to make complaints or demands. ("I'm gonna go cry in the bathroom, and then I'm gonna come back, and we're gonna do the scene, and it's gonna be completely fine," she later added.)

Clarke found comfort in filming with costar and on-screen husband Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), who had more experience on film sets and taught her how she should or shouldn't be treated. "He was like, 'Sweetie, this is how it's meant to be, and this is how it's not meant to be, and I'm going to make sure that's the way it goes,'" she recalled. "He was so kind and considerate and cared about me as a human being."

"Like, I've had fights on set before where I'm like, 'No, sheet stays up,' and they're like, 'You don't want to disappoint your Game of Thrones fans!' And I'm like, 'F*ck you!'" she said.

I don’t know what Y and C will do in TW, but I hope the actresses playing them don’t have to go through what EC had to go through. The showrunner is a woman this time and she seems like a nice person. She could be the showrunner who leaves things to the imagination.

Are we feeling bad for HC bc he slept in his trailer? If we are, we should quit it. Many actors go to great lengths to prepare for a character. Many like to stay in character too. HC simply stayed in his trailer, not a prison, a homeless shelter or a mental institution. I want to say that by doing so he consciously deprived himself of modern comfort and luxuries, but that would be BS, wouldn’t it? You don’t sign a $400K p/ep deal that has a crappy honeywagon as your accommodation on set. The lead actor of a big budget film or series almost always has a trailer for him alone, equipped with some essential stuff, like wifi, A/C or central heater, a little living room with TV, a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchenette with a sink, fridge, hotplate, microwave, toaster and coffeemaker. And the fact that HC had to be on set every day and had to work long hours kinda confirm that he had to have an exclusive trailer. I’m telling you, the only thing missing in HC’s trailer was probably a babysitter to feed him, burp him, change him, bathe him and tuck him in.

I copied that from one of the geek guys. That’s how you should read the books. If the years were wrong, the GOT fans would have said something. They were under the impression that The Witcher stole certain things from GOT.

  1. Winter
  2. Conflict between countries
  3. A happy southern city that nobody attacks (Toussaint in The Witcher and Dorne in GOT)
  4. A character that can travel through time and space (Ciri in The Witcher and Brandon Stark in GOT)
  5. Irish mythology (Aen Seidhe in The Witcher and Children of the Forest in GOT)

The GOT series happened first, but the Witcher books were first. Keep in mind that I don’t know if that list is accurate. I copied it too.

IMHO, GOT was popular because of the nudity and unexpected and gruesome deaths. The makers knew that fans expected her to be naked. They knew fans came back for that. They didn’t care if it was necessary for the story. It’s really sad.

Netflix Has Done a "Masterful Job" on The Witcher Series, Critics Say

The Witcher Netflix series is already being watched and judged by critics, and first comments are rather enthusiastic.

Multiple journalists have expressed their comments about how good the first sword fighting scene is, and how, perhaps unexpectedly to many, Henry Cavill has proved worth of the title of 'Witcher.' The first two episodes are also said to be able to move you to tears and make you laugh, confirming the intense tone of the series.

Overall, it's being reported that the team at Netflix has done "a masterful job" in porting Andrzej Sapkowski's books over the small screen, and we're told that the show is very "well-cast", which might be especially important if you consider that choices for main roles sparked controversy among fans.

GOT is so overrated. I gave it a try, because I like dragons. But I had to endure too much tedious chatter to get to them. And the nudity and gore just made me roll my eyes or yawn. The Rec feature and FF button are the best invention ever. Some say that the excessive nudity was mostly in S1 and S2. I could barely stay awake a whole ep. I might end up in coma by the time I reach S3. There were no real eye candy to keep me awake. Kit Harrington and Richard Madden were hot, but not hot enough to pull me through an ep.

Henry Cavill Is in Beast Mode

“There were eight hour-long chunks of screen time to fill, rather than [a standard film’s] two or three, but it was shot over a similar period,” he explains. “So you just had to get more done.”

For Cavill, that meant rising before dawn to perform 20 minutes of fasted cardio on the elliptical before travelling to the set. In the car on the way over, he’d “do business”, after which he’d sit is hair and make-up for more than two hours while working on the script. Next, he would shoot for 10 hours or more, which often involved physical feats such as horse riding and sword fighting.

By this time, it would be nearing 2am, requiring Flex's accommodating owner, Adam, to open up the gym especially.

On the occasions when Cavill had to hit the gym at “rush hour”, Adam would ask him what machine he needed next, then stand by it to reserve it. “[That way] I could get out of there within an hour, get home and get however many hours of sleep – which never felt like enough – before starting the day again,” says Cavil.

“I have not seen any Snyder cut.”

Henry Cavill and I geek out about our shared love for @ZackSnyder’s masterful MAN OF STEEL, his idea for future of his Superman character & how is character in THE WITCHER is a combination of Batman & Superman!
