Discuss Demi Lovato

It doesn't seem that Demi is being talked about much these days. Even though she appears to still be relevant musically speaking. Especially with "Sorry Not Sorry". As far as I know she is still making albums. Quite frankly I wish some people would stop comparing her to Ariana. They're two different people even though their music might be similar. Personally I prefer Here We Go Again and older songs but time continues to move forward and the Disney/Nick kids of back then are adults now. If only we could go back in time.

I saw Demi for the first time on "Barney & Friends (1992-2009)". She wore glasses then. Selena was also on that TV show.

Of course, she's best known from "Camp Rock (2008)".

Then all her problems started to surface and she was in the news a lot. It's sad that after ten years she's still struggling.

Demi is 27 now, and I really hope she stays well. relaxed

Demi has come a long way since then. I do think that her time at Timberline Knolls back in 2011 was beneficial or at least it seemed like it. She hasn't been in the news much these days save for a few interviews. I think she has matured a lot since then and is back on track. Hopefully she will stay strong.

Well, she overdosed in 2018. That was a horrible time as fans feared for her life.

Now that she's 27, I keep thinking of the 27 Club and I hope she will get passed that and be 28.

You're right. I had forgotten about that. I've heard about the 27 club. I too hope she doesn't let herself backslide. I think sometimes it's not the artist themselves but rather those who they are around. Be it management, producers, or friends. It's scary to think that we could lose Demi to that

She hasn't been on her instagram for a month now. But there was news of her, a couple of days ago, saying that she was ‘happy’ for her ex Wilmer Valderrama and his fiancée getting married.

She could be taking a break from Instagram and Twitter. Yeah we don't really talk about Wilmer. Lol. Long story. But anyway if she made a statement about him then that is some good news. I think it is hard sometimes to see someone whom gained fame on Disney grown up and do adult things.

Well her last post on her instagram did say that the next time she'll be back singing. So, it's just wait and see.

Unless something comes along I think she will be back in the studio

The most adult thing these kids now adults like Demi / Ariana etc. do is to have been in show business starting from a young age. Especially with massive corporations like Disney and Nickelodian. Managers, handlers, agents, contracts etc. I don't know about their parents, wether they were pushy or not. So much they have to abide by with the likes of the Disney or Nick. Heck even folks who just wear the character costumes at the Disney theme parks lose it with all the stuff they are obliged to do and act like.

I don't know what kind of control D and A and others like them even have over their careers and choices with so many people depending on them. Add to that the fickle public and the here today gone tomorrow pop music world.

There are hangers on, people who try to leach onto them just to get close to the fame game. People of all ages have been chewed up and spit out by show biz since it began. Add to that the social media and regular media attention.

If they keep on releasing music or step away that is great if it is their choice. If they get in some trouble or get some negative attention, I can't fully put the blame on them considering all they have to put up with and is expected of them, unfortunately even trouble is sometimes expected of entertainers.

Over all I think it looks like Demi is doing fine to me. Maybe should get some advise from the other Demi, actress Demi Moore who herself had a lifetime of showbiz success and showbiz troubles.

Interesting response and thank you for it. I think that Demi and Ariana have more creative control over their music than they did when they were first starting out. You are correct on a couple of things. The public and fans in general can be fickle. They seem to forget that pop stars are human and will make mistakes or bad decisions. It's a normal part of living life. Having to abide by rules of the networks can put strain on their personal lives. I think that is why the albums have often adult themes or language because they are reminding everyone that they are no longer kids and have moved on. As much as we, as fans, want Dems and Ari to remain a certain way we really can't expect that. It would not be fair. I blame the media buzz and the haters for making such big deals out of some small incident or interview that is deemed "controversial or negative".

It is just, to use the cliche, the nature of the beast. The media or the gossip end of it moves from one target to the next depending on who it deems buzz worthy enough. They have both spent much of their young lives in the public eye and have many examples of performers from the past to learn from.

Thank you for this nice exchange. Your two threads and your comments on them are more thoughtful than many of the other threads on this board to tell the truth. Have a wonderful day or night wherever you are.

And stay strong yourself ADF

You're exactly right. When Demi first entered rehab at Timberline Knolls the media or should I say the gossip/paparazzi were very pushy and obnoxious. Once that died down they of course set their sights on someone else. I can only imagine what it must have been like growing up in the public eye and having expectations of how to act. I don't mean acting on the screen so much as I mean interacting with fans, managers, producers, etc. I feel that many young performers were not given a chance to have a normal childhood. It's sad in a way. Thank you for your comments and for always being polite and non judgemental. I hope life treats you well.
